A little something different for an INCOMING!

Hi all! So, I know this will not exactly set the world on fire around here, but let me give you some background. I have been fortunate to snag some of the "in demand" watches since I have been collecting Rolex the last couple/few years. And I have been fortunate to pick up some nice older 5 digit models in the same time frame. But, I, like many others, have been stuck on the 500LN, BLRO and SkyD Blue waiting list for a good bit of time now.

To be honest, I am kind of over the craziness of the current market, so a couple of months ago I determined I would really look hard at what I consider to be "value" plays, or just Rolex watches I loved that weren't red hot. I do not want to go grey for anymore watches. MSRP or bust for me. So, "value" plays!

Last watch I got was a 14060M, and I LOVE it! I considered that to be a good buy. Hasn't gone completely crazy in this market - just a little crazy. Wear it all the time.

I also needed a dress watch. So I have been searching. Almost pulled the trigger on a salmon dialed Patek Gondolo, but decided to keep looking. I love the look of Art Deco rectangular watches, so I knew that was where I wanted to be at the end of the day.

I know the Cellini line well, thanks to a good friend of mine on TRF who loves them, but did not know much at all about the Prince. When I first saw this watch I loved it. The exact styling I wanted, and in a Rolex! Now, I know it is not everyones cup of tea, and was certainly not a huge seller in its day. But that's okay. I do love it. And I must say, wow, what a watch.

A display case back? Yep. Manual wind? Yep. Solid chunk of white gold? Yep. Perfect rectangular Art Deco styling for me? Yep. And a Rolex? Yep! I could not be happier!

I only need a dress watch a few times a year, for weddings, anniversaries, and the occasional dress up work party, but finally getting a "proper" dress watch is a good feeling for me.

Searched quite a bit to find this one. While they are not in huge demand, this was a pretty rare watch back in the day when they made them. Finally found the perfect watch for me. Still had all the stickers on it. Totally unused and full set. Never sized. Had the chrono tag and serial tag wrapped around the strap like it was still on display in the case!

So, I will wear the hell out of it when the situation calls for it, and I thought TRF might enjoy something a bit different from the usual Incomings for Subs and Daytonas and GMT's. Good day everybody. I am going to go wear my new Prince to do nothing fancy at all, and love every minute of it.

Sorry for the crappy pictures - it was raining like hell here and so this is all artificial kitchen light. You have to see this watch on your wrist to believe it.

Unbelievable to find a 2007 pristine safe/vault watch with stickers still on it buddy. Loving the art deco styling and it looks awesome on your wrist. Makes a welcome change and interesting to all the SS incomings

As we've discussed at length before every good collection needs a good dress watch in it, and now you have one, a great rare one at that.

Huge congratations on a unique find and as you say, wear the hell out of it Mark

Very refreshing! Good for you for thinking outside the box, but inside the rectangle.

Refreshing indeed! Rectangular Rolex with display case back is not something you see everyday, if ever.

That is one fantastic looking watch that I’ve never seen before. Congrats and thanks for sharing. Gives the King Midas a run for its money on the styling.

Great to see all this love coming in for the Prince, a truly under appreciated and rare WG beauty.

For anyone who wants to know more, as I did when I first found this watch, here is Tim Mosso giving a lesson on the Prince. I could listen to him describe trash and be interested. Heh.

Great job - Pictures dont do it justice. When I saw that watch in person, it blew me away. In real life it's simply stunning!

Agree. I always say pictures don't do it justice, but in this case it was more true than ever before. You really do have to see and hold this watch to understand it. Compared to the Patek Gondolo I also liked I feel like it is 95% of the quality, for 50% of the price. Love it.
