Listing on Chrono24
I’ve been in the market for a 16610 from my birth year. Peruse the listings daily. Although this is not what I’m after, this has me suspicious. Just strikes me the wrong way, I suppose? I thought about reporting it, but wanted to get input first. No need to say what’s wrong - just report if not authentic! I notice a couple things that are off.
Of course, I may be completely off base (I’m no expert), but I had a buddy get scammed by a so called “frankenstein” watch and it hits close to home. Thanks for checking it out! https://www.chrono24.com/rolex/subma...id14415088.htm SETLANG=en_US&SETCURR=USD Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Looks all genuine to me from external side that is.
Looks polished. What exactly do you see wrong? A

That’s good to hear! I hadn’t reported it because I wasn’t sure. The date window magnification and the font were odd (May be the angle?). The markers and proportions just seemed off. There are SO many differences between years etc. I figured I’d run it past the forum to save someone if it were off. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks so much - perhaps my inexperience is showing. Perhaps also too sensitive? I just HATE scammers and there have been so many people on here lately with troubles. Maybe I’m paranoid! Haha.

Private seller, no papers - what could possibly go wrong?

If you are in doubt then look elsewhere.
I would pass.

Just FYI - I’m not considering purchasing this watch. I simply spotted it in a search, thought some things were suspect, but wanted an opinion before reporting it. Don’t want to bring down a genuine listing, but if it is fraudulent in any way, I’d like to save some poor sap from being scammed.

Some issues.
1) Wrong bezel insert. Could be a service replacement or aftermarket. It should have a flat 4 tritium insert. 2) Over-polished in my opinion. Some parts of the bracelet looks almost reflective! Spring bars can be seen almost protruding out of the case, which is a sign of over polishing. 3) Date magnification looks way off. Probably aftermarket crystal. I've checked my 16610, even after tilting it at different angles, the date window still shows a decent amount of magnification. |
