5524 strap change questions, please advise
Can't remember who has done what of our forum 5524 owners
I'm hoping to replicate a look, I've seen someone use a blue strap, a Patek strap I've been told at AD that I need the Patek strap 261 reference number... Is that correct??? It's £265 But they say the current buckle I have in the original strap won't fit - so I need to get another at £630. Is that correct??? The deployant is £2815 Be grateful to hear back from fellow strap changers |

Yes, that’s probably correct if you choose to go with a Patek strap. You don’t need/have to use a Patek strap. I’ve used a couple 21/22mm straps with success, including a blue that goes nicely with the 5524. I’ve always used the original spring bars by making a small cut for the quick release lever.

I ordered a couple of custom 21mm-16mm straps (blue calf and brown calf) from Camille Fournet and bought a deployant from the AD.
I have the deployant but still waiting on the straps! |

Amazon. 21 mm rubber straps for 20 bucks. Bought a few colors. Works great. I swap out to different colors regularly.

5524 strap change questions, please advise
This is the answer I got from Patek when inquired about the same strap:
“Hello You probably mean the blue on the 5172G It is our code 261 Blue Calf. Please note that it is actually darker than the photo depicts. This strap to fit the 5524G would be a custom order. It would take about 16 weeks and is $389.00“ Why would it not fit the original buckle if it’s a custom order? I’d assume they’ll make it exactly the same size as original strap, no? I got the blue Patek alligator strap from my AD. It was £355. They swapped it over for me, no mention of having to buy a new buckle.

5172 strap is 20mm at lugs and 16mm at buckle. 5524 is 21mm at lugs and 18mm at buckle. I ordered this strap custom - 21mm at lugs and 16mm at buckle so it will fit by 5524 and a deployant. You are correct, if you order it custom you can order it the same size as the original - 21-18. |

I’m not sure if you are referring to my blue strap, but my understanding it is the 261 ref number, which is 21mmx18mm. It has the square holes for the 18mm buckle that cane with the oem strap. I actually got mine off fat_ninja, he could verify the actual number ref number possibly? My understanding is it comes with blue stitching, which mine has been replaced with white stitching. I love it! My AD has copied the look and like it so much better than the tan calf. I switched between 3-4 straps prior to this one and haven’t looked back. Should have come like this originally!
