Hello Everyone. I am new to the forum, but I just received a "Rolex" that belonged to my wife's grandfather. I am not sure if it is real or fake. My local watch guy said it's authentic, but I wanted to get a second opinion. I only received the watch itself, so I had an alligator leather strap put on the watch after servicing it. Who can I go to to find out if it's real and what the value of the watch would be. I have attached some pictures for reference. Thanks!

Genuine gold capped manual wind oyster date with a badly refinished dial. Hands look original but missing most of the lume which would have been radium.

The watchmaker who serviced the movement would know more than we can from pictures. The movement passed muster, right?

As far as value, won’t state a figure as we aren’t a shopping service - but that dial is a big drawback.

Looks like the dial has been hand painted and so that detracts from it.

The value of such things should be their personal value to you. Just because it is a Rolex does not make it a high dollar example. Checking the Internet can yield estimates for like late-50's, early 60's pieces.
