New AP’s prediction 2023 thread

New thread for the new year!

I’m personally most excited for the 30th anniversary ROO models and also the CODE 11.59.

ROO: Really hoping for an update to the 26238ST “the beast” with ceramic pushers, although I doubt they would do that. Also hoping for more 37mm ROO’s like the music edition so more people can enjoy this line

Code 11: star wheel is amazing. Hoping we get more interesting dials / complications since I think that is what really bothered people the most about the initial release (especially the 3 handers)

RO: not sure what we can hope for or expect this year outside of better availability.

I wish AP would release their 3 hands openwork version on the CODE.

I'm predicting more watches in the 37-39mm range, ideally some more ROO and a new smaller Code.

More ladies pieces, continued rollout of CODE and obviously ROO 30th. Maybe new openworked?

While the SAs I talked with were mostly in "can neither confirm nor deny" mode, I expect smaller CODE and ROO models, and some "exciting" new models in the ROO range for the 30th anniversary (that this will be celebrated was both expected and essentially confirmed).

I didn't get much pushback when wishing for new ceramic case ROOs (most of all, a new ceramic diver), but that may just have been them humoring my wishful thinking.

I also predict that the 15500 will eventually leave the AP current collection page...

A smaller Code in steel would be nice.

Wow, really stretching for bold predictions there on 15500 leaving the current collection page! More seriously, if they make a smaller code, would you wife buy a code? Trying to gauge where the influences are heading and this inquiring mind would like to know. !

-Smaller no date Code
-Smaller ROO
-A dual time complication, could be RO or Code

Wife likes somewhat oversized watches, and we could share the current CODE using the same strap. Need to see what a smaller model would look like. Current favorite is the burgundy 3-hander ("pretty", according to my wife), which however seems to be in danger of discontinuation - burgundy chrono is gone already.

Interesting. Thanks for the perspective. Re: Burgundy: Collectors item! Need to bid it up! Maybe they nixed it to avoid competition with the burgundy PQ

I would not mind focus in 2023 to shift towards ROOs and Codes (i have one already), so I can pick up 15510.

I’d really like to see a refreshed Diver, still 42mm but with the slightly curved case and ceramic bezel as seen on the 43mm range.

Ceramic case ROOs seem plausible and would be very welcome. This is what they did in the past with the 44mm ROOs. I had really wanted the grey/blue all-ceramic in the past, but I hadn’t expressed interest in time, plus I believe it was very limited production.

BRING BACK the wg salmon jumbo, 16202BC. AP if you are reading this, I plead and beg.

Find it odd they have the jumbo in every metal besides WG.

Neither of these will happen. The steel jumbo is a blue dial and that’s not going to change. The offshore already has a 37mm ladies size, it’s meant to be a bigger watch.

That would be a good one to save for the 150th anniversary, together with a CE Jumbo.

Agree on the steel Jumbo - the bleu nuit is already pretty dark. For the smaller ROO, if not necessarily diver, I would be more surprised if it didn't happen. 37mm Music edition was a hint, IMO.

- looking forward to what they do to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop, 30th anniversary of the Offshore, next Marvel collaboration
- hoping they finally come through on a line of 37mm ROOs. The music edition this year set the base with a in house movement
- Smaller Code 11.59s - at least a date/time to start, and eventually expanding into complications
- ROC 38mm with in house movement and open case back
- continue to experiment and cater to smaller wrists, expand on RD3 and make it more accessible lol
-who'll be the next CEO and what does the next regime change look like?

Not saying it will happen again, but AP has made general production steel Jumbos in other dial colors, including black and white.

It was the less popular pre-2012 0944 15202 generation. Some 15202ST.OO.0944ST.02 are charcoal or black. The 15202ST.OO.0944ST.01 is a white dial jumbo.

Watchbox has one of each for sale now.
