RO purchase with no purchase history
Hello all,
Im trying to figure out if I want a RO 37mm with grey dial or a presidential YG DayDate with white dial. I have a purchase history with Rolex but not with AP. I refuse to buy watches that I do not want just to get what I want. My point is, is it still worth to go to the AP boutique and sit down with one of the reps to get to know about the company and history and request to get on a waitlist (if there is any)? I'm in no rush by any means. I can wait a few years if that's the case but I read some mixed experiences online. From what I've also read, it just depends on the sales rep that decides to allocate to you or not. Thanks everyone! |

whatever you want really. Presidents can be had for under retail brand new now. AP's are just about there as well depending on the model and dial

I definitely want the 15550 Royal Oak w/ grey dial.
I definitely have some trust issues going thru gray market.. i just want to know if I am wasting my time if I schedule a 1:1 with a rep at AP. |

For a 15510 it’s hard to say. I was very lucky and got 3 watches in 12 months the last being a 15510 blue dial, and the one prior a silver dial ROC. I’d say it 100% comes down to how well you connect with your SA. If you’re willing to wait a while then I recommend you go in and talk to them. You’ll have an idea how well your meeting goes and could decide after that if you’re willing to wait. |

15550 is the 37mm RO and is not discontinued, but agreed with the rest. Doesn't hurt to try, it's all about how well you connect with the SA.

Is it possible? Maybe. Is it likely? Not in today's environment.

Can’t hurt to try for the AP, but it probably won’t be too quick (especially due to your location). I went grey for my 15400
I have the DD40 you’re looking at too. They’re both pretty awesome. They probably get equal wrist time from me

Yeah, I've been reading so much about people who do not have any purchase history.
I stopped by an AP boutique over the weekend without an appointment and tried on the 37mm RO grey dial. Man it felt pretty freaking good. I had goosebumps as soon as the rep slapped it on me. I hope they allocate me one in the future I scheduled an appointment with them sometime next week |

If you are dying for it, buy it from a reputable grey market dealer, but also go to the boutique, register interest and when you get it from the boutique, sell the one you bought grey.

I happened by the AP boutique and went through the whole list of watches that might be available and told them that I really was only interested in a RO black dial 41mm. Through good luck I guess, I walked out with one on my wrist 30 minutes later. Never hurts to inquire. Anything can happen!

It really depends how you connect with SA. My suggestion is to go make appointment BH or Costa Mesa. Wish you best of luck!

I’ve been on the waitlists since 15450st and visited my SA multiple times. It doesn’t seem that I will be getting the watch anytime soon without buying a Code or ROC. With my 5.5” wrist none of those watches would work for me (however the SA hinted smaller Codes might be coming in the future.)

It really does depend on several factors.. how well you connect with your SA, how strongly your SA is willing to advocate for you, the boutique and their “policies” on whether an RO is possible for a first time buyer, etc. I went grey for my first RO (15400), and was fortunate enough to purchase a 26240 from AP House as my first “official” AP. This did take a couple of years of trying with different boutiques and SA’s before it ultimately happened though - but it is possible!

Yup, really depends on the SA you connect with. Now if you go to a boutique, SAs take the time to get to know you and talk about anything else other than the watch. I saw this in US boutiques and Boutiques in Italy. In fact, I spend at least 1.5 hours multiple instances.
However, if you want more APs and harder to get ones, definitely buy from a SA. My SA did me a solid and got me a 50th anniversary piece. I have a few more on the wishlist and even talking about the grail watches, such as the open work Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Took 4 months for a 34mm gold RO for my wife, 7 months for a 41mm RO for me.
