Apro15550 V explorer 124270

Anyone happen to own both ?
I’d love to see a side by side of the 15550 next to the 124270 …. Grey APRO if possible ?

Thank you

I don’t officially have the 15550 but I did try the 15450 (a gen older) and it feels about the same as the 124270.

Here’s some not side by side pics on my 16cm wrist.

Apro15550 V explorer 124270

Thank you westoque….

I was able to try on that same model three or 4 years ago when I was wearing my MKII explorer as a daily…… at that time the 15450 felt too small and I redirected my interest

For the last 18 months I’ve been wearing a 124270 on my 7 inch wrist and I really prefer and have become accustomed to it’s smaller size.
I’ve heard the 15550 looks / wears slightly larger than the 15450 and that’s got me curious again.

I’m fortunate that there’s an AD across town so I hope to get in for some wrist time but until then I’m trying to prepare myself / temper expectations.

This was shown to me on another forum

But it seems that most owners have wrists in the 6 to 6 3/4 inch size range.

From what I can read 7 inch wrists tend to end up buying the larger sized Royal oaks.

I did t take any photos of my own wrist with the smaller or larger RO’s , but 37 mm seemed too small ( dial opening ) and 41mm felt too large (dial and case )

The new 15550 case shape looks like it will fill the wrist in the same way as the 15450…. I’m really wondering if the new dial layout will make the watch dial feel more spacious ( similar to the way the 124270 explorer feels “more dial” to me than the vintage 36mm explorers).

I suspect it’s going to take wrist time for me to really know .

My explorer on my 7 inch wrist for conversations sake.
The 155550 would fill more of an occasional wear / dressier piece

I'd try to get the 16202 - only AP worth the hassle, the rest if all fluff. Your explorer is lovely.

On a 7” wrist, I think you’ll fit a 41mm RO better.

The 37mm RO wears quite similar to the 124270, but the dial feels smaller to me due the to bezel.
It’ll probably be even more pronounced on your wider wrists, where there’s a lot of skin vs very little dial.

The RO is also more balanced all round weight-wise, while the Exp will feel top heavy in comparison.

Yes….
That was the sizing conclusion conclusion I came to 4 years ago

Thanks for the perspective

Even when I was wearing the 39mm explorer MKII the 41mm RO felt too large / too much dial. My tastes have shifted smaller then so I can’t imagine it will hold appeal these days.
You are correct though, my concern isn’t the case size , it’s the dial size/ in relegation to the bezel/ case and my arm.….. I’m hoping the less text dial of the 15550 grey presents a bit more visual mass.
