Sell white 5711 for mbf Moser lm101?

I highly doubt I'd actually proceed but the Moser looks amazing. Local dealer already sold out of their allotment.

If you are buying what you love, do it - that watch is stunning.

If you are concerned about value retention and liquidity then I would say no.

If you want to consider both, I would do a risk adjusted valuation model that would weight love and money. The money part would be a probability weighted calculation based upon future value. Kinda like marriage (I kid!)

Beautiful watch but how on earth do you tell time on it?

They'll be cheaper used, just wait. Personally I'd rather have the MB&F > Patek

While certainly a more impressive watch by far it doesn't do anything for me. I like mb&f but moser does nothing for me.

Yea I'd have to pull my phone out if someone asked me what time it is. The asking price is a lot lower than I expected, and yea it did take awhile to get my nautiluses.

Would I do it? Maybe for the tourbillon, but definitely not for the LM101. I actually don't care for the LM101 at all, but never would I question somebody's taste. It is YOUR watch and if it makes you smile, that's all that matters.

If you seriously considered a trade, I'd be very certain you don't care about ease of selling and value retention.

Probably not a bad time do some "profit taking" on the 5711/1A. As discucsed more specifically in other threads, market price for the 5711/1A has been decreasing over the past 6 months and likely will continue in that direction in the near future.

As for the LM101, you either like it or you don't. Personally I think it looks pretty cool

yea the fact that i'd take a bath on the moser/mbf, vs having the watch equivalent to cash unfortunately makes me pause. i loved moser dials, and the legacy machine, then bam a combo of the two. if i had the extra 50k laying around id do it in a heartbeat but i dont. my brother had the white 5711 and me the blue, but he really wanted the blue dial so we traded since my wife likes the white dial better. its sized for her so i guess its not really mine to flip anyways... always interesting to hear everyone's opinions, thanks

MB&F/Moser/RM, massive respect for these Maisons and their vision, the entire watch industry can only benefit from them being active in the game but not my style.

I like to use the 50/50 rule : would this watch have looked good 50 years ago? would this watch look good in 50 years? the way the rule is applied is very personal and is by definition 100% totally subjective...

I like simple entry-level watches... and would keep the 5711.

Watch does speak to me and i'm guessing the value retention is bad (for me that is an issue as I like to buy/sell every couple years)

But the golden rule is: Buy what you like

MB&F makes incredible watches.

But, yes, their value retention has been horrid (if you care about that sort of thing). Worse than Lange. :)

You should always buy what you like but the hit on re-sale will be huge on Moser. That can always change with greater market awareness. Sad but quality and such other aspects of greatness about a watch can have so little impact on it's retained value. If you keep the watch none of this matters. My other concern is whether a company will around far down the road to provide factory parts and service. This becomes a greater issue as the complexity and complications of a watch increase.

In my opinion the 101 is one of the nicest and most wearable piece in MB&F. The LE ones are great looking pieces (platinum, palladium etc).

The Moser is alright but like someone mentioned, it is hard to tell the time. I am sure the dial will look stunning in person.

What are your thoughts about the 5711 that are making you consider this?

I like the 5711 a lot, but man 50-60k for this watch is nuts. I got it before the skyrocket happened. I actually prefer the 15202 my dad has reappropriated from me. But yea, replacing it would be a nightmare if I change my mind. That's why I highly doubt I'd proceed.

The MB&F Legacy 101 is gorgeous and I have been tempted in the past. I just found it too much of a niche and resale is hard. I think you would need to know it will be keeper and you won’t tire of it. If so, it makes sense to buy what moves you. I personally prefer the MBF version and it’s dial. The Moser tourbillion appeals to me much more in the photos. I still rather have a 5320 (hopefully my next watch, a totally different and much more conservative watch).

I know trading out one of the most desired watch for an incredibly niche watch is not the best idea.

I'd be tempted, the Moser is striking and the white Naut not so much to me.

Curious, you ever see one in person?

I thought it looked nicer than pics.

IN A HEARTBEAT! Not the 5712 or 5726...but the 5711? Definitely!
