Advice on Nautilus 5712 timesetting behavior

Hello,

I wanted to seek the forum members guidance on a recent issue with my 5712. I have had the watch for 16 months now and it has mostly been worn gently on the weekends, not more than 10-12 times in total. I have always remembered time setting on my 5712 to be ultra smooth. Recently, during the last 2 weeks, I feel a very slight continuous crunch or click, for lack of better word, while setting the time. I feel it near the crown/stem as if the crown tube is dry. I may be totally wrong in my prognosis. Everything else like winding the watch or timekeeping is absolutely fine.

I still have few months left in the warranty and can send the watch in to the NY service center for it to be checked/serviced. However, I am a little hesitant after reading few horror stories on pristine watches picking up scratches during service or coming back with new issues. Should I sent the watch in now to have it looked or should I keep using the watch and have the issue looked at during the recommended service at the 4-5 year mark? Thank you.

I'd have that checked.

Hi there, never thought mine was completely smooth while setting the time... Odd thing is that you did not notice that before.
I think your watch is fine but let’s hear when people more expert than me chime in

No, I didn’t drop or set the date/moonphase during the danger time period.

Mine was 100% smooth setting time until it developed this fine clicking/crunching feeing when you set the time slowly. I won’t notice it when I am moving the crown quickly to set time though.

I just checked changing the time on mine and it was buttery smooth. Somethings wrong, get it checked!...
