Some of the music in the 80s was awesome (The Police, Peter Gabriel, [early] Phil Collins, M.Jackson, Prince, George Michael, Tears For Fears, Talking Heads, Simply Red to name a few) and some was pants (we all know who they were) - same as any decade.

I don't have an 80's Rolex, but here's the quintessential 80's watch.

It was a 'Don't Be Too Late' dial, grey SWATCH, '84 vintage. I used to smoke back then :smoking:, and made quite a bit of music, as it happens .

This shot was taken in Bern, Switzerland, having just returned from a month in Kenya, and just about to head home to Surrey, UK. Cheers, K.

There used to be a genre back in 70 to peak 80s called Jazz Funk. Not many people are into thus rare genre but I love listening to it. Grover Washington Jr. Few more etc

Want '80s Rolex? Just watch "American Hustle" movie!

It's a 2-hour commercial for the YG DD and the *SWEET* YG GMT that Louis C.K. wears....

83 was not a banner year for me as I spent half of it in traction, but this 83 sub is a nice reminder that good things did happen that year as well.

Thank you! I always enjoy seeing your red sub as it's a wonderful piece. Actually, it was was your red sub, along with some others that are on display here, that prompted me to get one of my own. As soon as it comes back from servicing it will promptly join the ranks here.

I am lousy at opting but have my YG Lapis dial day date. That was my ultimate grail watch growing up so my wife bought one for me for a wedding present. It's my good luck watch.

Interesting to see how we looked in the 1980s. Can't remember the watch brand I was wearing, but you could flip out the head and wear different coloured bands. I wore it all over the world for about two years. Happy days.

just realised non of my mechanicals are from the 80's, anyways the 80's were also big on digitals, here's two 80's digitals

80's TV watch as seen in Octopussy,

The other ones from 80's I have are actual tv series prop Seiko M516 Voice Note watches from a 80's TV series called Blue Thunder, one of which was even modified by Seiko for the TV series, will post pics of them sometime. But this reference was also famous as the Ghostbuster watch worn by all the actors on the Ghostbusters movie series and is called the "M516 Ghostbuster" watch in digital watch collector circles. It was also the worlds first recording watch. (Not my watch pic as don't have one handy)

ABC !

Can't mention the 80s without a massive 'shout-out' to Trevor Horn.
Truly awesome producer; Buggles (!), a stint with Yes, ABC, then Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Grace Jones, Seal, and string of others.

He was the man behind ZTTrecords. My drive home from work last night was the following playlist, quite a mixture

Jump, Van Halen
Fake, Alexander oneil
This must bethe place, David Byrne
Fantastic day, Haircut 100
All of my heart, ABC
Penthouse and Pavement, Heaven 17
