Thinning the herd thread #1 million

Looks like I am in with a chance of landing a grail watch blue SS SkyD, problem is I need to flip to finance this
My SubC date is going nowhere, 30th anniversary from my wife the others have no emotional significance and I like them all, just not as much as SkyD!
That leaves flipping DJ41 + Tudor Harrods (early 3 digit serial number) or SD4K
Currently thinking it’s gotta be the SD am I insane?
Reasoning is that will leave me with perfect balanced Rolex line up in terms of style and dial colours with the added bonus of some colour on the Tudor.
I travel a lot so down the road if a dealer overseas offers me sensible price I can always flip the Tudor for something else possibly a Speedy or B.B. S&G plus some cash my way. Also my DJ is on jubilee which I really like.
Should I phone the men in white coats?

I would sell the SD4K and then you’re complete

I love the SD4K. But I'd rather see one go to bring one in instead of multiple out for one. It's a difficult decision but the Harrods Tudor is absolutely worth keeping even if the SD4K is a better timepiece. Good luck!

I wouldn’t but your collection has to make sense to you and your lifestyle. I don’t see you wearing the DJ41 much if you have a SkyDweller.
Loose the DJ41 and Tudor as your new SkyDweller will cover the Classic DJ look.

I would not do this personally - DJ and Tudor no issues but keep the SD

congrats on the SkyD

DJ41 can easily go (and be replaced later if you miss it) as the SkyD will cover that look and more.

SD4K can also go. great watch but you have the sub. no need to keep.even if you need to sell only one, you can sell both and make room for the next unknown watch :-)

Tough one.
I think the DJ41 is more similar in look to the SkyD, and keeping the SD4K would give you more variety.
But then again the Tudor Harrods, is similar in look to the SD4k.

I would get rid of the SD4k.

I'd flip the SD4k without hesitating.

More variety with the DJ41 & Tudor compared to SubC and SD4k....

Love the SD4K but if the Sub isn't going anywhere you're good on that.

DJ41 and SD4K can go.

Quick question. Just received the Tudor Harrods. How does it compare to the SD4K in terms of thickness and wearability?

As above would keep the Tudor as it’s a stunning and unique watch

SD4K is a future classic. I would flip the date just and / or the Tudor Harrods

Never ever flip or sell a watch.

Keep saving!

I can totally understand why people suggest flipping the DJ. However, if you value having a DJ in your collection, then the SD has to go. You're already covered on the diver side with the Sub you got as an anniversary gift.

The SkyD wears a lot larger than the DJ, so I wouldn't make the argument that getting a SkyD covers the same bases that a DJ covers. I think that argument of overlap and redundancy is much stronger in making a case to get rid of the SD since you have a Sub.

Good evening sir. Would say they are very similar in terms of heft. Rolex bracelet is definitely in a different league and the watch also has the crown guard and slightly slimmer lugs.

Hope to have been of assistance

I thinkyour reply kinda nails it. My problem would be I need to flip DJ and Tudor or SD, if it was simply DJ vs SD that’s a no brainer, no matter how much I like it (silver, fluted, jubilee)

The SkyD will make you wear the DJ41 less, so DJ41 should go.

SD4K is a better diver than Tudor and the Harrod's thing well .. depends what Harrods mean to you but for me it doesn't do much and the green is not that good looking.

Easy answer to let DJ41 and Tudor diver go.

Missed that you had the SubC.. then SD4K could go too.. so probably DJ41 and SD4K to go then.

if I had a choice of all, I’d let the sub go. That said, it was from your wife so I’d let the SD go as much as it would pain me. In all honesty, it’s worth so much now the uplift to the skyD will be minimal, so probably makes most senses from a collection perspective.
