Help Identify Tudor watch please

Hello Rolex aficionados

This is my first.

I would be most grateful - i need some help.

I recently purchased a lovely Tudor (Rolex) watch from an auction house, with the following details :

A Rolex Tudor Oyster Prince Day Date automatic wristwatch

With rotating bezel in a stainless steel 39 mm case.

Reference: 9450/0

Serial number: 7627587.

The case back engraved 'Original Oyster case by Rolex Geneva'.

pictures :

Here it is working :

Now, someone has told me it's a fake - their argument is based on the reference number - he states they didn't make these models back then (i believe 9450 refers to 1983).

I would really appreciate some help here.

thanks in advance

Does it say 9450 on the case, between the lugs?

I'm no scholar on Tudor but there are a few inconsistencies with usual Tudor designs. The caseback stamped lettering appear to have a slight Oriental style. The numbers on the bezel are wonky. The bezel also appears to oddly be partially serrated around the edge. Also there appears to be inteference at the date window in the first picture.

It doesn't look good. The serial number should be six digits, not seven, and the 9450 never had a rotating bezel, as far as I know. Those were only on the earlier 7020 models. I'll move this over to the Vintage section for more opinions.

There's something really off about that one. The case looks immaculate. Like no bracelet or strap has even been really worn.

I'm not happy with the watch, but the 7020 bezel was partly serrated like that, and the date window is partially covered by the half turned day wheel.

Ok lets get this straight. Are you selling this on ebay? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RARE-ROLEX...-/142435644603

You seem to know a lot about it, in fact.

Hello

yes thats my auction - i am selling it for a friend who has given me all the details that he wanted to state in the advert. I only got concerned when someone messaged me via the ebay system to raise concerns about it. Hence my query here.

Thanks for all the feedback, I will have it checked out with a local watch expert to affirm if it is 'kosher' or not... i will report back

Using the same screen name to boot.

Watch just seems off to me. Can't put my finger on exactly what it is but think there are several issues with this one. "Someone" may be right.

I believe its a fake, don't need to go any further than the serial and model numbers, totally wrong. I have seen a site selling fake 7020 so they are out there.

That confirms it, then. OP you should take this watch off eBay otherwise there will be a lot of folks reporting it, and it will damage your reputation as a seller. Aside from it just being the right thing to do, of course.

You said in your original post that you bought it at auction but now you are selling it for a friend... Which is it?

Looks modded. Some old, some newer donor parts. The ref num stamp is off too.

That's a great question which needs to be answered.

I think Richard is spot on. There are sites that sell "replica" 7020. I will not link A's to not violate forum rules but this is what the ones I found via a quick google image search look like.

I just don't like the case stampings on this one compared to a known genuine.
