Pam183

Hey crazy panerai gang,

I'm thinking to add the pam 183 to my collection. I already have the pam 422, but have always wanted a Radiomir for its more user friendly wearability factor.

I've looked at the current pam609 as the current model on offer but the 183 just sings to me a little more, with its eta based movement which is just more appealing to look at.

What do you guys think, would love to hear from owners of the 183...I know the Radiomir is different in its fitting, but the dial and case shape is similar to my 422....would I get bored? Is it different enough...are there other alternatives? The price of the 183 is not bad either on the secondary market.

Thanks,
M.

I have an 183 and it’s my only Radiomir. I would say it’s very different from any Luminor. It’s a great base Radiomir but I would take a 249 over it any day.

The 183 is a great classic Rad and will pair exceptionally well with your 422.

183 is a Panerai classic IMHO. I would love to have one in my collection.

Hey Guys,

What do you think of this deal, a 2006 183 in preowned condition, from the photos it looks pretty good, box and papers in exchange for an Omega speedy 1861 movement, the one that has just been discontinued with hesalite crystal... It's new and unworn, I bought it in January but never wore it. Straight swap with about $200 my way. Would you guys do that deal.?

I'd keep the Speedmaster and buy a 183 when you find one.

If the speedy isn't singing to you, move it for something else. When my watch collecting journey began I kept reading how the speedy is one that is required in any true collectors watchbox, etc. Well I purchased it and was underwhelmed by it and much like yours it just sat in my watchbox. Smartest decision I made was to move it for something else!

You are trading down, so I wouldn't do it. I just paid 4k for a 2008 183 in great shape B&P. Aren't the 1861 Speedies going for 5k+?

Get a Radiomir in any event, it is the classic design that is worth having.

can't go wrong with classic 183 and if you could find a 183G would even be better

Thanks for the input guys. I think I will keep hold of the speedy and add the 183. I did want a G serial with the panerai engraving on the movement but they are harder to come by.

Just be careful of the crown. It’s more vulnerable than luminor. 183 also quintessential dressy Pam
