Close..to purchase(sorry for double posting)

Hi All,

Just received a call from my AD and she said she "may" have the watch I am looking for(have to wait till tmrw), but do you guys gift your ad in any type of way? if you do so what can you gift them?
Sorry It's my first time buying a watch like this and feels like I will be very lucky if I do get this watch in such a short time period.

Thank you!

sorry for double posting. Cant figure out to delete a post.

I did not gift anything. I sent a short email after the purchase thanking them for the experience and noting that I look forward to more in the future.

IF you feel obligated/grateful/whatever gift a ~$50 bottle of wine and call it a day.

Tequila tasting for the entire staff is always appreciated!

Alternatively for reasonable people a genuine "thank you" is enough for getting the opportunity to fork over several thousand dollars for a mass produced item...

Lots of threads on this and it seems to be a polarizing subject. I think there are a number of variables that go into this, such as the depth of your relationship with your AD.

Bottom line...

Follow your instinct. If you are the type of person that takes satisfaction in gifting and would find it rewarding, go for it. If not, don't.

Either way, fingers crossed you have a special reference on your wrist soon.

Gift them with the sale and customer loyalty. That should be sufficient.

I have never given a gift. I find the whole concept laughable.

What watch are you going to buy?

I used to get an occasional Starbucks gift card, but that is apparently frowned upon now, so I just thank them and maybe send an email with pics of me enjoying the watch and thanking them for helping me secure it.

No, you are the customer, it isn't a privilege to buy from them.

My AD gives me the chocolates, drinks, cards and little gifts to show I am appreciated as a customer. In return, I buy from them.

What do you mean “may” have? Are you sure it’s the piece you requested?

Have never gifted anything to my AD. Just don’t see it as necessary although each to their own - not exactly going to hurt if you did.

Although I do go for dinner with my SA and sometimes pay, sometimes not, but that’s because we’re also friends outside of the customer-AD side of things.

I never send a gift, but when I walk into the store, I always ask for my SA, Katherine. She knows I'll be in & ask for her for anniversary & Christmas gifts for my wife. After buying my wife earrings for our anniversary, I looked at a OP Blue 41 & she called me 32 days later & told me she had gotten one in if I wanted it...I Did!!

Much appreciated token of appreciation.... spare no expense.

I’m in the “no” camp, but it honestly depends on what kind of watch imo. If it’s an elusive reference (meteorite, off-catalogue) and you’ve been waiting a long time then maybe.

Not always but sometimes I come back a few days after purchase with a ‘thank you’ card and a modest bottle of wine or bourbon. Around $100

Gift the the $xx,xxx that you pay them for the watch that goes towards their quota.

You don't owe these people anything for selling what is overpriced luxury goods. A thank you is sufficient.

It's a weird time when you have to buy watches you don't want, to buy a watch you do want, only to take a gift if / when you do get to buy it.....

This is worse than dating ever was....

I’m a firm believer in quality customer service. I sent a complimentary letter to the owner of the small family owned AD regarding the salesperson. She was highly appreciative of this, as was the owner. They’ve treated me very well ever since, on a personal level. Simple kindness goes along way…long after donuts are eaten or beverages drank.
