I’ve taken a fair amount of time away from the forum but recently felt the itch to return.

This news has completely flawed me. As someone has eloquently put, we are all ‘virtual’ friends who have never had the chance to meet in person. But we’ve chatted over many fun topics over the years.

Reading your post I cried.

Dave I’m so terribly sorry to hear your news.

Not sure what else to say but this feels pretty apt.

From a Scouser to a Yorkshireman…

You’ll Never Walk Alone Dave !!

When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of a storm
There's a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark
Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
For your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone.

Dave, I've had my own close encounter with CA and I somewhat understand your position. My hand on your shoulder buddy, try to find solace whenever and whereever you can.

It seems strange and quite dysfunctional, but the majority of my life is spent in a bed now. It is very off-putting at how "quickly" can become the norm. A big bonus was that I was nearly able to complete a shower totally unaided, not quite but, as daft as it may seem, a proud moment.

Good morning Dave,
That shower must have been lovely!

Did you manage to get any info' on Saturdays game? 4 goals and 3 penalties, unfortunately Bamford missed his and the Magpies scored their two. Very exciting game though. Sam seems to have got your boys 'fired up'.

Frank's Chelsea don't appear to have a clue at the mo'...a draw, against Forest, at The Bridge!!
I wonder what Pochettino's reign will bring?

We're all thinking of you Dave, and hope Carole and your family are getting all the support they need.

I'm sure I speak for us all on here, if there is anything we can do to help, in any way...just say the word.

Good on you sir! Taking a shower, a walk, whatever your victories are now you are accomplishing and should be proud. I can tell you for a fact, I would be wallowing in a pit of self pity, you are a stronger man the I Dave.

I’ve been there when I had discitis and sepsis. I’ve rarely been as happy and satisfied as I was after a chair shower, clean sheets and clean pajamas. Life really gets focused onto the simple but important things in life.

I am still in hospital, I say to hear things because I think things are lost in time, a little thing seems important and can be forgotten in a moment.

A lady/girl was taken part the ward today on a trolley, her ear splitting screams of pain where heart renching, she was begging for releif. 20 seconds was all I heard but this poor poor lady was in so much pain. I will, but never want to hear it again, it may be me. Please, please check all your symptoms, there are no heroes here, the pain always wins.

I have been here 2 weeks, I am not strong enough for chemo but I will go to another hospital for rehab and walk to the oncologists office when I am able and show him I am ready, you just watch me.

Dave - I have no doubt that you will walk into the oncologists office very soon, shoulders squared, eyes steely, just like the proper British soldier that you are.

I'm still praying everyday for you buddy.

Dave, I have been peeing a hell of a lot more in the last 2 months than ever before and seeing your posts I went to the doctors last week and am having full blood tests next week. Hopefully it is nothing to worry about, but I wanted to thank you for your honesty and posts as it has made me get things looked into sooner than I would have done. Being in the UK like yourself as well, I always remember the great news presenter Bill Turnbull who sadly died from Prostrate Cancer a few years ago but did all he could to promote awareness before he left us.

All the best Dave, we are all thinking of you!

May be home today, still very weak but making progress, hopefully will be ready for the next step. 6am and a cheerful nurse wakes me for a blood pressure test, a soft voice and I am soon drifting into a nicer carefree world. Was she an Angel? Right at that very moment she was to me. She quietly looked down and asked, "cup of tea?" What beautiful words, not needed but so, so nice. The tea was glorious. Such a small gesture but just at that time, just at that very moment, I was the most special person in that hospital. In the world even.

I don't know which hospital you are in, but being a Leeds fan I can assume LGI.

Although I don't think that changes the fact that the healthcare professionals in the UK are second to none. The care my family and I have received from them has always been fantastic and it sounds like they are doing their best for you. Even down to the tea.

I'm not prone to 'over emoting' mate but, reading your post this morning, made me feel, a bit strange. I called my wife in and told her to read what you've said about this morning. She held my hand and gently squeezed...no words were needed...we couldn't even look at each other.

It's going to be warms and sunny today, get home and enjoy a nice cuppa in that lovely garden of yours.

She quietly looked down and asked, "cup of tea?" What beautiful words...
Poetry Dave,.....poetry.

Truthfully fellas, this has been the best day ever, besides a cathater slip, no spillage though. I slept all through the night pain free, I am awake in bed having some toast in my own bed, just pain free, it's the first time I can say that fov5 months, oh my goodness, it's glorious. It is just the best feeling ever.

Excellent news

The sun is coming out in Yorkshire, everything is starting to flower and with west ham having an eye on Europe and big Sam getting something out of these players, it might be a good weekend for Leeds

That is fabulous news Dave! So glad to hear that you were released from the hospital and overjoyed that were able to sleep free of pain.
