Dial Chip or Dust?
Hey all, Happy weekend! I recently viewed a 1680 Red with a pecular bit of dust on the ‘M’ of submariner that made me suspect a dial chip. What are you guys thoughts? Owner checks out and is a nice collector, mentioned that it wasn’t there before he sent it in for a service (perhaps some dust from that)

Hard to say from the photos but looks like dust/debris to me. Did he take pictures of the watch before sending in for service? If it was recent enough he could request to send it back to have it inspected and corrected.

Looks like a piece of lint to me. I’d send it back to watchmaker. Could’ve been hiding and missed when watchmaker reassembled watch, only to be jarred loose and came to rest there.

Looks like it could be a small fiber that landed on the dial. Sometimes if you tap the side of the watch, debris will move around a little.
