There’s already been at least two incomings of the 40mm (224270) on here this month.

I got the call last week. It definitely has the easy link extension like the oyster perpetual not the glidelock, like the subs. It’s also not 40 mm. More like 39 +.

The 36 has easylink so I don't know why you'd expect the 40 to be different.
Also it's a dive watch feature. Neither the GMT Master nor the Daytona has it. |

I would be surprised if anyone said they prefer the easy link adjustment in preference to the glide-lock adjustment. Although I am not a mountaineering enthusiast, I could appreciate a mountaineer wanting additional extendability in an Explorer bracelet to fit outside climbing gloves or apparel for easy access to check the time. Timing is critical whilst mountaineering to plan, schedule and monitor travel to reach ones destination/camp before dusk.

Easy Lock is great and I doubt Rolex will ever let the Glide slip to other than dive watches. I'd love to hear that other watches have been released from this years W&W. Also first I'd heard the Exp was out. Below's an earlier thread.

I saw one in the metal a few days ago. It's quite a statement, better bezel and dial, and overall proportions than the older 39, in my opinion.

It has been out in Canada and Europe already. I asked at one of the ADs in the DC-area here and they said they had already taken delivery and sold their first one.

I tried it on at a dealership. While some have been able to procure it at MSRP from the ADs (gray market is trending at about 60% markup), general availability will not be until EOY, from my understanding.

Thanks for the pic. Goes to show how distance and angles can change how big or small a watch looks. It looks perfect in those pictures! |

Wow, thanks for those photos, looks awesome.
I called my local AD and asked to get one. They had me listed down for a stainless Daytona (white) since 2019 and I never got a call. So I said switch me to the new Explorer list.. Hopefully I'll have better luck! Smurf_75.........some guys get all the luck ...anyway congrats

My AD also has it. Went in on Tuesday and compared it with the 36. I passed both…for now. They are definitely available as is the new GMT…

My AD had one in along with the 36mm I'd ordered. It was spoken for, but according to him there is definitely availability, with the Exp 36 still harder to source, perhaps because those lists go back father. I'm in Canada.
I prefer the 36 on my wrist, but can see the 40mm working for many. Both have plenty of wrist presence on the bracelet. |
