Precision 6480 help and correct end links

I’ve had this Precision model 6480 for many years, though it doesn’t get much love and attention. I had not noticed how far the gap is when the crown screws down. I’ve seen a few pictures here and noticed this with others...is this normal? If so, any idea why the tube extends so far out?

Second...i normally have it on leather but wanted to put on my 78350 bracelet ...but I have incorrect endlinks (571)...anyone know what end links are correct for the case?

Thanks!
