Vintage

what age does a Rolex watch have to be to be classed as 'vintage'

This day date Tridor is a 1987
My wife's Tridor is a 1985
I'm a 1953 model
My wife is a 1950 soothing model

Does this mean we are all vintage

Cars are considered vintage after 25 years and antique after 50.

Although, I don't believe I would categorize you or your wife as antiques.

Great looking Tridor! The tapestry dial is a perfect fit.

What about references like the 16660 SD, 16800 Sub Date, 16760 GMT II, 16550 Exp II or 16520 Zenith Daytona? All of them are sapphire but can no longer be found in the "modern" aisle of the grocery store.

Many of these sapphires I refer to as vintage myself.

Can we categorize them as classics? Otherwise how do we distinguish these n previous versions. They will all b lumped together, no?

I blame it on autoconnect.

Perhaps "transitional vintage" might be appropriate since some of the sapphire models are 30+ years old by now. At some point they will be considered vintage by all collectors regardless of what we decide today.

After all, why should a 1984 16750 with acrylic and matte dial be vintage but a 1984 16760 with sapphire and a dial that has aged to semi-matte not?

Killer watch. The tapestry dial makes the watch.

A watch from 1989 is not vintage yet. Patience baby.
