1st Post! 1st Rolex! 1st AD 126660 Deep Blue Sale in Alaska!

Hello from Alaska folks!

I have been eyeing Rolexes for quite some time and decided my 30th birthday would be a great time to take the plunge. After a fantastic year at work, it made the decision even easier. My amazing wife agreed to let me get on the waiting list at the only AD in the state of Alaska for the Deep Blue.

My first visit was in June when I expressed interest and was told I was 6th on the list. At that time, the store had not yet received any of the 2018 DSSD releases. I put my wife’s name and number down as the contact because it is a birthday present from her.

This past rainy weekend my wife and I decided to window shop and stroll through the AD. I bumped into the same salesman who put me on the list. There I was, #6. Still, the dealer had not seen any of the Deep Sea releases.

Fast forward to today, on my way to work, my wife texted me and told me the jeweler had something “your husband might like” from a voicemail she received. At first, she thought another stainless model had become available. After a call back, the salesman said that all 5 people ahead of me had passed on it or asked to make a deposit on it to pay it off later. He told her this is the first 2018 DSSD to be offered to this store and the waiting list is quite long if she were to delay. It is the first one to be sold in the state of Alaska from the only authorized AD. With that news and special circumstance, she knew it was meant to be and purchased it....

On one condition.....I agreed that it sits in its box until March. I can’t even peak at it! I know the wait will be worth it as I drool over pictures on the internet. It will make the whole thing so special with such a cool story to back it up!

It may not be the typical 1st Rolex, but I’ll be honest, Subs don’t really excite me. So while there won’t be pictures for a while, I knew you all would appreciate the story!

That’s great! What a nice watch. You can put it to the test in that beautiful Alaskan wilderness. I lived there for many years and miss it! A burly watch for a burly land.

Yes I know! I thought one or two people ahead of me might pass so this was quite unexpected but an opportunity that I could not pass up.

It will certainly be a test of self control!

Big congratulations on the DSSD... and (very) early happy birthday!

I couldn't imagine waiting another ~5 months to wear a watch if I knew it was sitting in its box somewhere at home! That is quite the test of patience and self-control!

Congratulations.

So many tyre kickers join lists and that worked in your favour.

This is definately a cause for congratulations .... and that box sitting there in the house ... calling you, taunting you from now until March 2019 .... love it, all 135 days of it.

Best case of Schrödinger's cat I've seen in an age.

Great story, sometimes things are just meant to be.
Alaska seems like a great place for a DSSD to live, wish you all the best with it!

Congratulations on the birthday present!!!

But to wait until March next year?? Oh myyyy that will take a lot of strength on your part to be so patient!!!

Why not ask her if you can at least " peek " at it ...... sorta like look but ummmm don't touch compromise?!?!?

Regardless it's a wonderful gift and I'm sure you'll appreciate it each day!!

Thanks for sharing!

That’s a long wait! Maybe ask her for a picture? At least you’d have proof of life!
