5513 mark2 1978

Hello,
may I ask you what do you think of this watch? I'm going to buy it in two days.
It's 10k$, is it too polished? I was told that is suitable for diving as well
I will have the pearl change with a tritium one...

thank you so much

Looks really good to me. As others have said I would source out a correct insert for sure. As far as diving with it, I dunno, personally I would not take my 5513 diving no matter what. It’s just too easy to get a nice good quality inexpensive (compared to this sub) dive watch that you can use for diving and enjoy this beauty on dry land.

I have a 1968 5513 no date, in comparison mine has service replacement hands and dial, it came with a service card from Rolex who confirm the service. A watch from 1978 would have been through a lot so expect it to be polished as well as the bracelet being changed, for awhile I was hung up about mine however they are getting harder to find in original condition that's affordable, Prices are very much on an upward trend, It looks good to me and in the event of buying make sure you get an insurance quote from the seller should they be able to supply one, finally you haven't mentioned box or original papers.... due to its age mine had none which was factored into the selling price. let us know how you get on, all the best "H"

Thank you everyone for your opinions.
I just got the watch yesterday, I think is good looking also without paper and box it has a certificate of revision from Rolex of 2007 though.
I have some concern about the bezel insert as some of you has, so I asked to the seller (actually the seller wrote with his partner the book "Rolex Milgauss,Explorer,Yacht-Master" published by Mondani editore, you can see their pictures in the first page, so I reckon he must be trustfull) "Has the bezel insert been replaced? why is not faded at all?" and the answer was "It's a 1978 the inserts used in that period don'd fade, the older ones do".
What do you think?

(maybe one day I'll by a new insert and bleach it, i saw very good result here).

Thank you again.

Um...WHAT?? That’s an absolutely ridiculous statement.

I was wondering if change insert, but I found a lot of confusion about bezel inserts and I didn't find any clear publication about which is the correct one for a mark2 of 1978.
What do you think about this one? I like the look but I'm not sure if is the right one (maybe is 18 months younger 😄)
Thank you
