Pilot here. If I had to choose, I’d go GMT although I wear my Breitling B50 Cockpit Mission for functionality and “beat-up resistance” factor.

Also an Airline pilot. I wear the Swedish brand Sjöö Sandström - the particular model is issued to the Swedish airforce so should be sufficent for a slow driver like me.

If I were to choose between the two - GMT all the way. For me it is the original Rolex pilot watch with a long history. I prefer the <5 digits though.

I wouldn't use my 16710 in the cockpit. I see no reason - as many has said it will be beaten up,and I'm more comfortable wearing something else. A senior captain at the base that is really respected and with many hours under his belt got a square G-shock. He wear it really well and to be honest I think that watch is just perfect for what we do :-)

I have to say that a 737 cockpit is not a particularly harsh environment for a quality wristwatch. In my case anyway it is where my 16710 has suffered the
least of it’s abuses over 20 years of daily wear.

That was what I was thinking as well. I see only well dressed pilots with crisp shirts. Suitable environment for a SkyD

Sure glad I'm not a pilot; after owning my Sky D I have no desire for a GMT!!!

We can add this to the many good reasons not to be a pilot

Actual airline pilot here and as I’m not really a fan of the Sky D it’s a GMT every day of the week for me. I do feel the GMT is a better fit with the ceramic bezel and sportier nature. I really own go between two time zones so I don’t really need the quick hour adjustment but I do keep the GMT hand in Zulu time and reference it constantly on the job. I plan on getting an LVc or 116500LN next and I doubt I would wear either of them at work over my BLNR. Have thought about a breitling aerospace for work though but I think it may be awhile before I pull the trigger on one of them. I do feel like I’m constantly bumping my watch on things in the cockpit so the breitling is definitely tempting.

Wore a GMT Master or a Speedy Pro in my flying days. SkyD didn't exist then.

I would wear a Rolex GMT Ceramic LN or a Rolex Daytona 116500LN I think. Maybe I would wear a Grand Seiko GMT, because of the precision.

The GMT for sure. It is an iconic watch with a facinating history. I am a private pilot and do like the GMT better.

Airline pilot here and it's the GMT easy I've never really found the skydweller that appealing from a usability standpoint. Exp II works great as well!

i usually wear a breitling chronospace, or citizen skyhawk Ti sometime ,luminox naviseal
the SD43 gets bang around too much on the flight deck.

would love to get the next pepsi...don t forget we have a few clock and other ways to get the time on the flight deck,,,so don't really need the watch...then the smart phone on the layover.

I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night

Not a pilot, but I prefer the BLNR (have) to the Skydweller (don’t). Less jazz going on, simpler face, which I prefer.

I used to own a black GMT in pre-BLNR days, but I sold it. I thought it looked too much like my Sub.

I love the Sky Dweller. However I view it as the businessman’s travel watch. It offers a dressy 2 time zone watch.

A pilot needs a tool watch. The pilot needs the GMT. I view these two watch’s as fulfilling different missions.

Retired Army helicopter pilot and enjoyed the GMT throughout the majority of my career. The GMT replaced a day/date Seiko that was purchased many years ago at the PX in a far and distant land.

I am acquainted with two Singapore Airlines pilots. They both wear black subs.

I am a private pilot and I do not own either. However, I voted for the GMT.

I don’t wear this very often to work, but did on my last flight. And the funny thing was that when I was going through crew security, one colleague stopped me and and asked how do I like it. I said I love it and then he showed me he was wearing the 5524G.

GMT would be more useful tool watch vs SkyD good for date night with the Ms/Mrs. FYI- I am not a pilot but I play with boat/vessel.
