No, kind of stumbled upon it on Gumtree of all places.
Yeah these are thin on the ground here in OZ, believe me. Second one I have seen in 12 months. |

I would advice to let that beautiful plexi alone and rather put a replacement on and keep the original one at home if the condition bothers him

Thanks
It arrived this morning. Should I be worried about the plexi? |

It looks like the seller polywatched the plexi after some of the photos of it were taken and prior to selling it to me. So the marks and small cracks are from impacts over the years but they now look really unusual as all the other wear and tear scuffing has been removed.
The watch is in terrific condition, the bezel insert is starting to fade nicely. Where would I aquire a lume pip for one of these? Is it poor form to pop an after market one onto a watch like this or should I find an authentic one? |

Put a superdome on it, top hat with date bubble sucks. They look a lot cleaner with dome crystal. Keep the original with the watch tho

Ok good advice thanks. Yeah that top hat has been around the block a few times.
The white dot at the 50 on the bezel insert and the white matter kind of wedged behind the bezel at 55 were just plaster I think. They washed right off. The watch was FILTHY when I received it. I sonic cleared the bracelet only to release a xenomorph into my home. The case was also mucky, but brushed it with antibacterial detergent and a light brush and it looks amazing. The bezel is still very hard to turn, so I am scared to see who/what lives under it. |

Given where these have gone, that's a totally fair price. Agree with having a new crystal put in and a little LIGHT spruce up by a trusted vintage watchmaker and thats a perfect wear for life watch.

Nice acquisition!
I am curious how the dial looks under all the plexiglass mess. |

congrats.
on the lume pip i would not put one on there unless you source an original tritium one. would not put after market. i actually like it fine without the pip. the last few photos of the watch really show off the lume patina. i like how it is yellowish with the lume on the dial plots and hands matching. hopefully the hands weren't color matched. judging by the original condition i'm guessing it was not. |

No.
Ebay has a free listing promotion at the moment. This is a great way to gauge the real time current value of a watch in Australia. |

You know the bezel on those come off very easily. It just pops off and there's only "two" parts (technically it's three..the insert/bezel/spring but when you pop it off, the insert is nested in the bezel so it acts as one piece). I'd pop that sucker off and get it nice and clean underneath.
Sorry, can't help you with the box... |

Hi, I was thinking of doing that as I can feel a lot of resistance from 'something' under the bezel when I turn it. I might ask my jeweler to do it when he pops in the new plexi. Thanks

No need to have the dealer do it, you should be able to use your thumb to push up on the bezel (at say the 5 o'clock position) and then it just lifts right off. To reinstall just push it down until it lightly clicks into place. It's very simple.

I took some photos of the dial under a black light. Do you guys think this lume is original? Its completely dead and is very flat and seems to match up beautifully on the dial and hands. So much so, I am a bit skeptical.

Seems like mine. I too had to ask TRFers as mine had no glow under UV (just a couple glowing specks). The second oldest watch I own is a mid-late 90's with dead tritium and that one still has a good amount of glow when hit with UV.

Your listing said you will ignore offers and buy it now price requests, so how exactly is this helping you “gauge” market value? And if you are keeping it, why do you care?
