Daytona Exhibition
My local AD held a Daytona Exhibition this last week. It was really fun getting to see them - as well as some other rare ones. The best part was meeting other local watch aficionados.
The yellow gold Sky-Dweller on a brown leather strap was probably the coolest watch of the night, but even with all of those great models I still liked the Explorer II the best. Fortunately for me they are readily available. I met a guy who loved the Explorer II as much as I do, but he had the polar and wanted to add the black. I have the black and want to add the polar. I’m not a huge Daytona guy, but they had a nice Daytona magazine as a gift. If anyone would like it just pm me and I’ll mail it to you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Very cool. Did they receive a shipment of watches to put up for sale for this event? Any professional models..ie daytona, sub, hulk, blnr, etc?

The really good stuff was sold before I got there. As I understand it they had two SS Daytona's and a Pepsi. I'm pretty sure those probably went to their best customers. I was able to see a bunch of dummy Daytona models which was still cool. They also had: Sea-Dweller Submariner w/ date Submariner GMT LN Explorer Polar Explorer II Air King Couple of YM's I thought fairly hard about grabbing the polar. The Rolex rep was a nice guy but he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about when I asked to see the polar Explorer II. He doesn't like/use any of the nicknames, which seemed to make it hard because everybody there was using the nicknames. |

Hey Mike!
This week I received an invite from the local AD regarding the Daytona Exhibition this Sat. and bummed out that I already have plans that day. Wanted to wear my 6263 to the event. Sounded like you had a good time! Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk |

I’ll be in LA next Saturday. Is it a one-day Daytona event?

It’s hard because some reps use nicknames and some don’t. I’ve actually asked reps, “what do you call this model? Batman.... gmt master 2 blue black.... 116710BLNR....? Whatever the response that let’s me know how to communicate with them. I am so conditioned to using the reference numbers for models that it’s easier for me to just say the number. That also can get you funny looks at a dealer. |

Too bad Chris! The watches were great, but meeting local watch enthusiasts was much more fun. Unfortunately my wife didn't have nearly as much fun as I did!

The one I attended was a one day event. It was an evening event, but many of the best watches sold prior to the event. If you are looking to buy get there well before it starts.

If anyone might have an extra Daytona Magazine from one of these events, I have been looking for one for a while to go with my Daytona that I plan to hand down to my son... It would mean a lot and I would be more than willing to pay for time and shipping...

I went to one back in May, pretty cool! I was one of the few with the ceramic Daytona or any Daytona for that matter. They need to put me on the payroll, I sold at least two Rolex' for them that night. The problem was they all wanted a Daytona like mine...that wasn't going to happen...anytime soon anyway.
