What would you do?

Ever since they announced the 126710BLRO I’ve been wanting it so badly and immediately put my name on the list with my AD. Last night I got the call but so much time has passed that I now feel as though it’s not right for me and that I’d rather have a 16710. I’m not a flipper of watches but can’t help feeling that I should take the 126710BLRO and flip it for a small profit to help fund a 16710. I’ve always been the type that when I saw a grey market dealer put up a new release at a ridiculous price it would anger me so that some guy who really wants it to wear is missing out because of it. So anyway what would you guys do, to flip or not to flip?

Hook up a member with your AD or let the next in line get it.

It is a cool watch and if it had been available in a time frame you found acceptable you would have taken it. Nothing has changed with the watch, only you. Go try it on and be blow away or not. I would get over the, " did not come in my time frame", and buy and wear a very cool watch. After a little while if it does not work for you then sell it, trade it or donate it, It is your property. And while it sounds good that it would go to another collector who could enjoy it, I would think that there is a good chance it goes to someone for an immediate re-sell. Stop over thinking it and go try it.

While it’s none of our business, the bulk of the members here are gonna wonder what you consider to be a “small profit”. Would you sell it complete with stickers or remove them to make it less likely that your buyer would flip it? Ultimately, it comes down to what you feel comfortable with, but I’d either try the new one out for a while before even considering passing it on to someone else, or just buy the 16710 & be done with it.

Pass on it if you don’t want it, don’t be a flipper. Or, but it and enjoy it for a couple of years, then sell it (probably for a small but not outrageous profit) and buy the 16710 if that’s what you still want.

I have the BLRO which I wasn’t 100% sure about until I got it, and I properly love it!!! It may not be a keeper for me as not sure where it fits in my collection, but it’s currently getting a lot of wrist time.

Yes buy it and sell it to a known member here who you appreciate, and put a little cherry on top for yourself.

I would pass on it and let the next in line get it. Or, ask your AD if they'll sell it to someone here on TRF with the buyer's name on the card.

Sadly, I expect your PM inbox will overflow with requests begging for it. Sorting through that will be a challenge.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I would not flip. Buy it, try it, and see if it sings to you. If not, you could easily find someone with a 16710 looking to trade (in your favor).

Can't agree more with this. I didn't think I would be a fan of the CHNR until I saw it in person and now it is on the short list.

If I was you I would totally jump on the BLRO! But it sounds like you're not totally sure so I would still buy the watch worst comes to worst if you don't like it you can sell it your money will definitely be there, better to try it atleast much easier to get the older ones if you want.

P.S. I'd totally take your spot lol

I would buy it, wear it for a few months to see if it scratches the itch and then sell it and buy a 16710 if you find that you're still more attracted to a vintage one. There's no harm in that, you're not a flipper, you're an actual Rolex enthusiast. If you feel bad for making a profit on it just sell it for less than the typical markup. Then someone else gets a good deal too. With this watch you can literally buy it, wear it for a while, sell it and still get all of your original money out of it. Win/win.

You will end up doing whats right for you at the end of the day.

You mentioned a "small profit" and I suppose that depends on what your defination of small profit is. You also mentioned that you are not a flipper ... but are actually concidering flipping the watch before youve even lived with it ... I'd call that flipping in my book.

If you definately dont want it ... leave it for the next guy on the list, if you want to buy it and flip it to buy another watch, do so.

Justification for whatever path you decide on is not needed from strangers on the internet.

Absolutely, ADs hate flippers no matter how small a “profit”.

Don’t get blacklisted, pass and let the AD brighten someone else’s day. Someone who wants the watch.

Again, why oh why oh why do people join lists then back out.....staggers me!

I say do the " right thing " and allow the next person on line have it.

That person like yourself was probably waiting for quite some time and would be doing cartwheels when he hears of it being available to him.

Good luck!

You could purchase the 126710BLRO and trade it for a premium 16710 and cash to lower the cost of your new investment. It would also give you a chance to get to know the 126710BLRO...which may become your favorite after all.

I'm trying to put myself in your position. In a way l am on another hard to get one. No flipper here. Since your talking about one of the hottest watches on the planet why not buy it and give it a shot at least for awhile. If you go to try it on and it does nothing for you then pass, you will stay in good graces with your AD

Let the next person in line at your AD have it. That’s what I did.

I was offered the first through the door - watch does / did nothing for me.

My buddy who just happened to be the next in line was pretty happy.

Just my .02

I've made my desicion

I am going to go ahead with the purchase and see how I feel about it if it doesn't sing to me then I'll deal with it at that time. Thanks for all the suggestions
