Hello all,

I am new to this forum after looking at it for some time for reference on many of the various intricacies of the Rolex brand.

I have had a Rolex for a long time now, but have always been a huge fan of the brand.

My first Rolex was one that I had long admired that my father had owned for many years.

It came into my possession as the result of a trade with my father when I was about 15 years old I traded a relatively nice Seiko I had saved for, for my fathers Rolex GMT Master. At the time the watch had been in a state of disrepair for many years as he had accidentally swam with the crown open and drowned it. It would not keep time well after this, but I none the less I loved everything about it.

My father had sent it in to Rolex a couple of times before with the hopes of one day repairing it, but with the way Rolex service goes they wanted to repair and replace a large portion of components in the watch at a pretty high price tag which my father was unwilling/able to do financially.

Upon my possession of it for many years I just kept it as a beloved momento of my father and my childhood until one day I took the initiative to finally repair it after discovering that it did not have to be serviced directly by Rolex when I found a watch maker in San Diego that could get it running up to spec without replacing most of the watch.

This being said I had it repaired properly about 8 years ago, and have proudly worn it practically everyday since.

As a child when seeing my fathers GMT I developed an affinity for the brand and began to really admire the polar Explorer II 16570. I was also a huge James Bond fan and really admired his no date Submariner as well and generally have always tracked the brand in some way shape or form since my teenage years.

Since then I have added a 216570 Black face Explorer II to my collection as the looks have grown on me more than the polar since I first admired it, and have plans to add either a 14060 Submariner to my collection or a Deep Sea 4000.

I currently have both watches mentioned still, both the; 16750 GMT Master Circa 1983 and my 2018 216750 Explorer II. One day I hope to pass them to my children and continue the interest and affection for the brand for another generation.

Sorry for the long introduction but felt some backstory was necessary.
