New Member Observations (tongue in cheek)

Hi all, I've just joined the forum and this may well be my last post if it doesn't go down well. I've had Rolex and Patek watches in the past and have recently bought a DJ 41 TT from an AD, but I thought I'd share my innocent and light hearted views on the various poster types on the forum:

1) The Wannabee

Excitedly posts about the watch of their dreams and is super happy they are on a waiting list to eternity for that GMT. Just maybe they might get something one day, but that doesn't matter, they're part of the team now.

2) The Mechanical Enthusiast

Let's measure our watches to the Nth degree, at all 360 orientations and compare how bad today's movements are versus the previous. Really, just buy an Apple Watch if you need second accuracy and just enjoy your Rolex for the miniature marvel of engineering that it is.

3) The Insecure

Yes, the AD loves you, you're really important and I love the photos of your Porsche and Yacht. However, remember there are a lot of people much more wealthy than you who don't talk about it.

4) The Over Extended

Don't buy a Rolex if you're frightened to wear it in Paris, Katmandu or the bath. Really, just buy a cheap watch you can afford to lose or take out insurance.

5) The Needy

Please don't post about how you walked past an AD and are going to get a watch soon, but you're not going to tell us what it is. You're a good human being, you have nothing to prove.

6) The Pragmatist

Just buy that Pepsi from the Grey dealer at 3x the MRSP, you can afford it. But expect everyone to hate you because you have the money to afford it.

7) The Lover

Great photos, you really enjoy your watch. You've worked hard to get it so enjoy having a pinnacle of engineering and grace.

8) The Clinically Insane

You've just bought 3 Ladies DJ and a set of silver cutlery for 12 in the vain hope you get that Sub. Five years later you eventually get it, and it's got a cracked crystal but you're terrified to complain in case the AD unfriends you on Facebook. Take a step back and a deep breathe, just relax and buy a grey or, even better, a weeks holiday in Tibet learning meditation.

OK, in way of apology I expect I am part of all the above.

It's great to join the team :)

Gawd knows!!
Don’t park that “thing”, with a dirty spot, next to MY yacht! People have a way of talking, y’know....

(But Dave, you have permanent permission to “come aboard”, if I DO ever happen to own a water vehicle, anytime!)
