New Rolex GMT - best city for pricing / availability?

I am soon going to be celebrating another birthday (they seem to come too quickly now) & the birth of my 2nd child. To mark these I'm in the active market for a new timepiece. My current - a late 60's Omega - looses about 10min a week it seems & I'd like to be on time at some point.

I travel internationally, frequently crossing up to 16 timezones at a shot, so I'm looking at the GMT IIc in SS. I'd like to go w/ an AD.

As things would have it, I am going to be overnighting in Amman around the middle of January & I'd like to see about making my purchase on the return trip back to the US. I have the option of breaking my trip at a Western Europe hub for a night or two & I figure this is where I'll go shopping. My choices seem to be: Frankfurt, Vienna, Zurich, Paris or London. As I speak English, London does have a certain attraction.

Amman or even Dubai may be an option but I'm not sure how much time I will have there.

Looking through the forum I see there are likely some good options out there but time is a bit tight so I'd really appreciate some guideance from those far more knowledgeable.

Of course, all this talk of the price increase - which I've heard substantiated from an AD in Ottawa - has got me a bit nervous.

Best
~Brian

Watches.co.uk not the best place to buy price wise IMHO but they do certainly have good to great stock.

London is without doubt the cheapest place to buy due to currency exchange rates but discounts are harder to come by. RRP to 10% discount all the way generally.

eg SS Daytona USA = $9200 v UK RRP £5340 x 1.45 = $ 7743. Not that you'll find a Daytona in the wild but the point stands against the whole Rolex range.

just my 2 cents

The UK must be one of the best places to buy .I was offered a GMT2 IIC in steel BNIB for £3400 by my AD ,Now if you factor in the vat refund for a international buyer that has to be a bargin .If you fly to london gatwick you could be there in 1hr and a 1hr return to LGW .

Wow! SS GMT2c retails here for $9600 nowadays. 3400 pounds = approx AUD7k. I thought they retail in UK for 4k pounds right? That's 15% discount. Go get it

It does seem that London might be the place to go. As a plus I can get a good curry too. I intend to search through the archives later today but in the interim can anyone steer me to a good / reputable AD there? Feel free to PM if you like.

Scooba - If you don't mind me asking who was the AD? I'll likely be going into LHR but with time & a tube pass can get most anywhere for a good deal with a reputable dealer.

Not trying to hijack this thread but I'm looking to buy a SS Daytona and searching for the best place to buy also.

Is it even possible to find an UK AD that has one available?
