1970ish Omega Seamaster 600 Ploprof safe queen.
Chatting watches with a colleague in work today about Rolexes, and he got talking about his safe queen Omega Ploprof 600. The bracelet is completely unworn in brand new condition with not one scratch and the watch itself he reckons only a handful of times on the other strap which is incredible since its from the early 70's.
He sourced it from a collector in Israel. When he recieved he had it serviced and authenticated by Omega just to be sure. Whilst it was away Omega phoned him as they wanted to buy the steel bracelet of him. They hadnt got this particular strap on show in their museum and wanted it as it was split new. He declined, saying he would only sell the whole package, wise move I think. Hes a bit of a dark horse when it comes to watches, with impeccable taste I have to say. He also has a Sub and a Sea Dweller to keep the Omega company in the safe! Anyways hes going to bring the Ploprof into work next week to show me in Person, but he emailed me a few photos of it in the meantime, and I thought all you Omega lovers out there would appreciate it if I posted the pics. |

Very very nice. I love those Omega mesh, they are so comfy, all watches should have that option!

Very nice. I have one on Mesh like that myself. I love the squared off hour hand. Wish I could find one of those. I love wearing mine, I don't know why people wear them on weekends only, it is not bigger or difficult to wear than a Panerai. Much less hassle than any omega with a flightmaster style case...

Cheers for all the comments, thought the pics would be appreciated in the forum. The squared off hour marker, are they rare? Why are some hour markers pointed and some squared? Beautiful watch also Lowflight!!
He did talk about a similar watch being sold recently for absolutely crazy money!!! |

According to Jon Wallis's book, both hands were offered and he really does not say one is more rare than the other...but I don't see the squared off one as much and I really want one.

Was talking to my colleague today, he informed me it was in fact the Isofrane strap and not the mesh Omega wanted to buy of him for their museum, as it was brand new.
Got my wires crossed last friday! |
