I️ thought that this was a good wine for the price point — but found it entirely too sweet - as with most of the modern vintage Caymus wines — very new world and fruit forward.

Perhaps a little too young but still a solid wine. Paul Hobbs is the winemaker, this vintage needs a couple of years to unwind but still great !

I agree. Basically, Caymus..... at half the price.

It sure is close, for sure — the nose is nearly identical to a Caymus cab. The flavor profile is slightly different — but I think it is a great option (at that price point) to serve at larger dinners.

Decided to open one of these tonight. This is from one of mine and the Mrs. adventures to the Rioja.

We visited this small production winery in LaGuardia, Spain called Bodega El Fabulista - and this was their flagship label — only 1200 bottles produced — this is a 2005 vintage.

Has very similar qualities of an older burgundy from the nose to the palate.

These have been marinating in the cellar for a while so decided to open one.

Very good - and very different.

Cheers!!

Tonight’s wine selection at Nomad in NYC. Amazing night!

Roumier is next level Burgundy but even within this producers lineup there are nuances and qualities to enjoy. Bottom line is that ‘00 Bonnes Mares was off the hook

Took your recommendation Marc, thank you very much, we really enjoyed it, will be buying more.

Been living in Spain for the last 27 yrs. Love wines from the Rioja region or as they are called in Spain, "Un vino Rioja". One comes particularly to mind, it's called "Heras Cordón." Absolutely delicious. This wine was chosen by the Holy See in the Vatican as the Pope's wine. Very inexpensive. Another delicious wine is called "Licenciado". Rated 94 pts on Parker's. Has won several medals and it also is a truly outstanding wine.
