The new Ming Watches diver - 18.01 H41

Released this morning and sold out in about 5 min. I was considering it and even set alarms for 5:50am to get on the pre-order, but decided to pass after seeing the released images. Its just not my taste at all. Was even considering buying to flip, but tying up $3500+ USD on a pre-order that won't be delivered until late 2020 or early 2021, and that I didn't like, just didn't sit right with me. No disrespect to Ming or those who purchased it, but it looks like a kids Power Ranger watch, but again, just my taste. Would love to hear other members input on these things.

Haha, I saw a similar power ranger comment on WUS (unless that was you?).

I managed to grab one on the bracelet. I can see why this watch is so polarizing and there's a few things about it that I'm unsure/skeptical about as well. But I will reserve judgement until I get it in hand.

The curved end links with the gap are definitely strange - I can't stand unnecessary room between a bracelet and case. But Ming does strange best, so I'll wait till I've had it a few days before swapping it out for a strap.

Didn’t have to set the alarm clock (it was 3 PM in continental Europe), but also passed on it. To me it looks too much like a compass. Doesn”t have the finesse of the “civil” MING’s models.

+ deliveries in Nov 2020 / Jan 2021 with 3.000 CHF sitting somewhere in Malaysia in COVID19 time didn’t sing to me.

Nevertheless, an impressive watch. Definitely an eye-catcher.

My sentiments as well, I was ready to jump but the moment I saw the photos, my guy reaction told me otherwise.

An artistic piece in itself, but it just doesn’t “sing” to me.

Haha yes that is me on WUS.

Congrats on getting one! I would be interested to see user's pictures once they get them in-hand.

Seems like BOLD lume is being featured by many brands recently. Lume is playing a bigger roll within the overall aesthetics in quite a few new timepieces.

I like it, then again I like Tron movies. :)

A 'true' tuxedo watch by Ming would be epic.

While I like the watch, and it retains the MING design language which I also like, it also wasn’t for me. I had one in the cart but ultimately didn’t click through.

It may be one of those that in person impresses more.

Ming is going to have a steep hill to climb if they want to serially produce a true sports watch. The brand's flamboyant case shape does not lend itself to a rugged interpretation, so when the two are married in the same product it produces a clashing result, like this diver. Introducing a new case shape will broaden their opportunities to diversify the product line.

I like it. It's tough to come up with an original design for a dive watch these days, and they managed to do it while maintaining the brand's DNA.

I'd love me a world timer. That thing is breathtaking, albeit a lot more $.

I am normally not much for divers, but this one clicked for me. I have the DLC on strap incoming in November.

I’m feeling good not buying one on launch. I would have tired of the design and proportions very soon.
