Don't get too caught up with the SEL Vs hollow. That gen bracelet can feel like a stamped bit of tin, so the end link really doesn't make much difference. More about the look and condition for you.

Should I be concerned that it hasn't been serviced?

If it hasn't had a recent service it may well need one. So you would have to factor $400-800 into the overall price if that is the case (Depending on independent vs Rolex service)

My go to watch when I'm in a rush to get out of the house, or when I need to be out to run a short errand, 14060 or 14060M. No need to set the date!

Great choice. I got mine back in January. Brought it to my watchmaker the next day for an overhaul. Gave me piece of mind.

This watch will grow on you like crazy. I can't stop looking at mine.

You can't go wrong with a Sub, a fantastic, tough everyday watch, but I´d always go for a no-date model, as I've never cared for the cyclops and am not a fan of date complications. And don't worry about solid vs. hollow end links: the 31530 bracelet on my 24 years old Sub has held up incredibly well considering I wear the watch 24/7. Yes, it´s jingly-jangly but I like that, and it´s superbly comfortable. Just my 5¢ worth here...!

Consider the sea dweller 16600, best of both worlds.

It has never had a service though hence the good price.

Should I go down the Rolex route or an independent watch service?

That is personal decision. Some here will only go with Rolex factory service and some will only go with an independent. Each has pluses and minuses. With Rolex you get access to genuine Rolex parts and lubricants and people who are trained for the job. But it's pretty impersonal. Results are generally good but some folks have been less than impressed for one reason or another. Expect 6-8 weeks without your watch.

An independent will often be more personal and faster. They might not have access to Rolex parts although even without a parts account many can find parts through their personal network. There are certainly many watchmakers working independently who are plenty qualified to service a Rolex.

What flipped you from late 16610 to 14060M? Win, either way.

Date or no date?

Up to you. I chose no date, 4 line after owning a variety of 6

Found a 2010 14060m in good condition with full box and papers for £6,400, after negotiating a reduction.

The only thing is it doesn't look like it has had a service, as no service receipts and current owner is the 2nd owner.

Is this a good price and would you buy without a service? I can always service myself once received.

Buy based on case condition & completeness ( papers, etc). Can always service!

Personally, if it were my watch, I would service it at Rolex Center as opposed to independent, purely for piece of mind. I believe the price is £550, but you do get 2 years warranty.

Yes I will absolutely do this. At least I will then know it's been recently serviced and should be running fine then.

Is there any issues with them replacing any of the original parts etc or is this quite usual?

It’s quite normal - and for a 2010 no issue. If you go Pre 2000 with tritium dials it becomes more interesting as they sometimes want to put Luminova hands on a tritium watch - so no issues your side.

Price wise, you did well. I am searching currently and can’t find a 2010 for close to that (in the U.K.) currently.

I went through this decision just a few weeks ago. It's a 16610 year 2008 for me. I don't consider straps, maybe Jubilé but not necessarily. I preferred the 16610 for the Cylops, it's really Rolex and it gives some kind of interesting tridimensionality to the watch and glass. Good luck in your choice!

I know this is an older thread - but I came to it in 2023, so maybe others will too.

The 14060m and 16610 wear completely differently I recently added the 16610 (2008) to my collection, because I wanted the 14060m, just with a date - seems simple right. First thing you notice, these watches are very different in terms of case size, flatness, and comfort.

I could not get used to the 16610 so went back to my 14060m which just feel like a glove. I appreciate HELs so much more now.

More than just lugholes or not, the spring bars are significantly different in their construction and design.

Spring bars used with lugholes insert considerably further into the lugs.

My choice is the 14060m. G serial or random serial.

Almost Anything with lugholes is ok on my wrist.
