The one you want more. Don't buy either until you know this.

On offense to Speedmaster owners but there is no comparison.

The 40mm Speedmaster Racing, white dial, on rubber strap is my choice.

Daytona vs Speedmaster
Me personally, precious metal - Daytona and Solid steel - Speedmaster. You can’t go wrong either way. Both fantastic watches.

I went through this exact same predicament about 18 months ago.
I wanted a chrono in my collection and whilst I was drawn to the Daytona initially I soon realised that in order to get one I was either going to pay a great deal of money or wait a very long time. So began my quest to look if there were any alternatives out there. I specifically wanted a white dial for legibility, it needed to be waterproof and accuracy and durability where very important considerations, in fact it needed to be everything the Daytona is. Price was also a consideration as I needed to keep costs in the same ballpark. I have always been attracted to omega and own a couple of their watches already. They are tough, reliable and affordable to buy and maintain. After seeing the Speedmaster Racing in the flesh I was immediately drawn to it. The dial is simply stunning, the date function is something I wasn't expecting but is a very welcome extra. Beautifully designed case and bracelet and it has a reassuring heft that gives you the confidence to wear it anywhere. Plus, because they are more readily obtainable I don't mother-cuddle it. The movement is rated to metas standards which are superior and the display case back is a wonderful addition. All in all, I don't think you can go wrong with this watch as an alternative to the Daytona and with the money saved you could purchase another Rolex! Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk |

Apples and oranges, mainly due to the cost.
If your budget is part of the debate, the classic Speedmaster with hesalite crystal is by far the winner. However, since you didn't mention money as a consideration, then clearly the Daytona. |

Between these two I prefer the Speedy. The dial layout, the dial size, the legibility, the date, the micro adjustable clasp with the bracelet, the wrist presence, the METAS certification, the factory strap variety, the decorated movement and display case back. To me not only has Omega caught up, it's overtaken Rolex with this model.

I won’t vote without knowing more information. I own and love both but clearly the prices are far apart. As a chronograph fan I really can’t imagine not having both but I wouldn’t suggest either just because other people like them.

Both great watches, but they are very different in terms of size, movement, price point, etc.
Speedmaster is great bang for your buck, and its heritage/history is unrivaled in the watch world. The aesthetics are clean and classic, hence why it has gone practically unchanged for decades. It will never go out of fashion. The Daytona also has an impressive history (albeit less so than the Speedy IMO), and in my mind the 4130 is among the best chronograph movements of all time. Actually, it is probably my personal favorite watch movement, period. The Daytona is also incredibly sleek, and the case size is perfect. Good luck with your decision. Either way you will not be disappointed. |

I have both and frankly they’re not really comparable pieces. The Daytona is at least twice as expensive as most speedy’s. I love my speedy though and wear it quite a bit.

I have to say I expected the Daytona to win by a landslide, however this poll is proving otherwise...very interesting.

^^^ this.
For Speedmaster I chose the 50th with Buzz butt. Nice mix of SS and gold highlights, coax mvt, METAS certified... plus the packaging / accessories / Moon Lander / etc rocks! Rolex should start adding, or at least offering, a variety of bands / bracelets, and dare we ask for special commemorative packaging as appropriate.

Exactly. I have and enjoy both. Not sure the Daytona is 4-5 times the watch that my speedy is though.

Have had both. Still have Daytona. Speedy just did not stick for me. Did not like the feel of the crown when winding it. Good value on the Speedy though. Not so much on the Daytona.....that could be changing a bit.

I have a Daytona, and love it!
But, as soon as funds allow it a Speed Master will be also part of my collection! J. |
