What are ADs doing that are shut down?

Are they still getting watches shipped in?

Who is receiving them if they are closed?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they are closed to the public not to themselves. If correct, perhaps they are still receiving whatever jewelry, watches, office supplies, etc they may have ordered. Also, some AD's that are technicians may be catching up on bench work along with other duties like-inventorying, cleaning, etc.

Perhaps.

The allocation manager at my AD told me they had to take 2 weeks vacation and then would be laid off.

Not sure how they are distributing watches now.

My AD is still doing pre-owned online business for sure. They took a deposit from me to hold a watch from their last Rolex shipment until this all clears up. But not sure if new watch business is something they’re extending to everyone.

Curbside delivery of a Rolex...I never thought we would live in that world. It's odd. This whole Covid 19 is like being trapped in a Twilight Zone episode.

Why I wouldn't put down a deposit to be on a list. However, if they sold it during COVD for full or partial deposit and said it's available to be picked up when the shop opens, there's no risk.

Not true.

My AD messaged me last week saying they got a shipment that just came in with the likes of Sub date, Sub no date, SD43, DSSD, Exp 1, Exp 2 etc. Said he can hold it for me till the store opens if I wanted it.

Will your AD hand you an airplane bottle of champagne through your car window?

My AD has called twice regarding my watches in for service (both new, 1 for a look-see into accuracy, the other to change out a different dial). They explained that Rolex ordered all stores closed and watches put in the vault immediately. This was done at the store level and the Beverly Hills authorized service center. They went on to explain that the stores expect to open, by appointment only, sooner rather than later. The service center will open with a smaller staff to keep with health dept recommendations of distancing as soon as possible.

Have to say I'm impressed by the personal touch service offered.

The only risk in that is if the AD doesn’t reopen. Unlikely as that may be and depending how the deposit is paid and the terms of the deposit, I would say there’s no hurry to do this until things normalize again.

Currently the AD I purchased from is closed. However they are suing the time to renovate some of their custom jewelry manufacturing area in the back. I was also told, in an email response from a request for an Explorer II Polar dial, that no new shipments would be arriving until the factory reopened. They are a great family owned business, but I do know 100% the owner kept a good deal of "special" pieces in the safe before the shutdowns occurred.

I was working with a family owned small AD before they shutdown (No purchase history and this is my first Rolex purchase). Not after a SS rather a PM YM. I emailed asking when they would reopen so I could see if they could order it when they reopen and I have heard crickets. Not sure if they are serving VIP customers, I get I have no purchase history, but no updates when they are reopening. Currently under lockdown till the 30th.

My AD has furloughed the workers and the managers are just keeping on in the store, no new deliveries. I just hope they hire back all the SA’s, i love my store and SA.

I used to work for my AD. I talked to my contact there this morning. They are closed down and sitting this out like most of us...I'm still waiting for my 116508 and that hasn't changed of course...

This! And Rolex NY won't receive any more shipments from Geneva until the factory starts production again.

So this would mean if you order a PM watch it could take several months to get it?
