Best Strap Feature Ever!!

First strap I’ve ever seen with this feature. No more fighting to get pins in and out with a tool, no more scratched lugs. Pull the switch back, align the pins and release to secure. Takes seconds. Why aren’t all straps made this way?!!

Because the mighty pin bar tool industry would collapse. They spend billions per year to stop this from happening.

And since you posted this picture expect a knock on your door from a couple of very burly guys with no sense of humor.

Good luck.

You already got the real answer there. However, just to lighten up the discussion, I would add that cost and security are other factors. Pin bars can be painfully to remove and for that exact reason they allow a very "secure" connection.

Not sure I’d want a snag point that could pop out the spring bar.

I agree that’s a concern and after wearing it for a week not had any issue at all. The pull back is rounded off so it doesn’t catch and can’t even feel it on the wrist to be honest.

Some people say they break easily, but I have no experience of that. They have been around for a few years, and I quite like them. They tend to come on cheaper straps for some reason, but seem to be getting more common.

Each idea to make swapping straps easier has a trade-off. In this case the single point of failure at the springbar post. If it corrodes, jams or breaks, the bar is difficult to remove.

But the advantage of easier strap swaps helps the makers of straps and those particular springbars. The easier it is for an owner to swap straps, the more likely multiple straps will be sold to that owner.

Watch brands don’t ordinarily see an advantage because their fortunes are tied to selling the complete package and brand control over their customer base. The sale of 3rd party straps doesn’t benefit them.

I curse the corporate greed and influence of Big Pin Bar.

Cartier has that beat.
Push down on grey tab, strap is quickly removed.

I think Patek uses this type of spring bar in all of their strap pieces.

I saw a review recently showing Longines have this feature on one of their vintage military models too.
