Sorry for the rant. The forum is totally useless to me at this time. I might pull away altogether. If you still enjoy it, kudos to you I am pulling away from all the nonsense.

Try checking out some of the sub-forums. That’s where I spend most of my time nowadays......particularly The Seiko sub-forum.

Just take a break. You might change your mind. Still a lot of interesting stuff on TRF despite all the people looking to make a quick buck and the thousand investment or value question.

Forum does get a little ground hog dayish at time, but I think it has to do with the whole Rolex explosion and all the newbies coming on board asking the same old questions. I don’t know blame it on “da gram”

It truly is curious how this message was received and responded to.

When Padi said the same thing it was a very different set of replies.

Noticed the same, lots of negativity for no reason

That might spice things up a bit.

The forum is in a slump, but it's no different than any forum I've been on, except that this slump has more to do with market forces and the attendant issues surrounding that.

People take time off from forums all the time, so that's no big deal.

It's a dynamic world of watches, though, so there will more excitement as time goes by.
Well put my friend...

I am seeing most posts are totally worthless these days. It is easy to browse through titles, ranging from what something is worth, reasons to buy or not buy, even recent orders for hard to get pieces that leave clients less than convinced they made a nice purchase.

Sorry for the rant. The forum is totally useless to me at this time. I might pull away altogether. If you still enjoy it, kudos to you I am pulling away from all the nonsense.

As someone said earlier, we're the forum, so the OP's claim is that we're the nonsense that's totally worthless. True or not, terms like the ones highlighted are belittling and insulting, and aren't going to win many friends.

I’m more or less on the same page.

It’s habit, convenience, and familiarity that brings me back. I’m often frustrated by the trolling and negativity.

Not likely I’ll pull away for good. But I love the idea of a break.

OK. I think things are what we make them and TRF is no different. Want to be positive and enjoy the posts and pictures, you will be right at home here. Want to be negative and look at things differently, then you can do that also. My experience is that TRF is a great place. I continue to learn and the vast majority of members are very nice. This is just my viewpoint but I will be here most everyday enjoying the site and my fellow members.

Padi has earned the right to criticise posts because of his invaluable contribution.

And he's not threatening to leave. If you want to leave, just do so, no need to tell everyone and have a final dig.

I didn’t start the thread.

But I think you know that. And I agree completely that there is no need to start a thread about leaving. Just leave. I get it.

However, this has zero to do with deserve. The content of the forum is the content of the forum, regardless of who is making the claim.

And it appears the majority of threads today are whining and complaining. Very little excitement and energy these days. I would assume most agree with that.

Personally, if I’m a moderator of a forum I care about and helped build, I’m not insulting the content and it’s members, I’m creating new positive content and encouraging a positive environment. I’d be the change I want to see. But I’m essentially nobody. I get that too.

And please understand, I’m not judging ANY of the moderators. Their job is tough enough. I get it. I’m just making a point. In that vein, I would search a few threads because Padi has actually made a few “good bye” threads. I’m glad he hasn’t left. So again, please don’t misunderstand. He’s clearly one of the most knowledgeable people on the Internet and adds an incredible amount of experience.

Either way, I’m not actually disagreeing with you. Just making a point.

Oh, I dunno. There is one sub-forum at least that has quite a bit of novelty and excitement going on today in particular. To each their own, of course.

I don’t understand these posts. Are you looking for us to beg you to stay? If you don’t want to be on the forum, you don’t have to be. If you see something you don’t like, you can try to change it. If not, Bye.
