Best Desk Clock?

Just recently moved and have my first nice (not ikea) desk in a home office and with the quarantine going on I’ve been sitting at it for work way more than usual.

Thought I could use a nice desk clock but don’t really know where to start. I know Cartier makes some expensive quartz options and Panerai has some really cool mechanical hand wound ones.

What’s everyone’s favorite desk clock?

JLC Atmos clocks are cool. I don’t own one but have seen a few at AD’s.

Another vote for Atmos.

I'm not a Panerai guy but I love their style of desk clock.

Best? MB&F has made some amazing models, although they are obscenely expensive.

If you want to get an antique mechanical clock, I’d check out the upcoming Skinner clock auction, for a decent price you can likely get a very special piece or art/history that you will enjoy looking at for many years.

Another vote for MB&F. Functional art that is visually stunning and interactive.

^^^^^ Beeeeeee-you-teeeeee-ful!!!

Since my previous post, I acquired a Panerai table clock for my nightstand. 8-day movement, and EPIC as she glows all night. The magnified movement is wonderful.

Maybe not the best but Chopard is wonderful- just bought mine, lovely craftsmanship with solid swiss quartz movement.

Thanks! That Panerai table clock is cool, too. I need to try to check it out in person.

BTW, I love your site since it covers my other passion (and money pit)

The PAM clock is so... Panerai.

BTW it is quite hefty too! Been looking at many, including MB&F, yet for 3k the PAM really checked all the right boxes. Especially for nightstand use, nothing came close.

Thx for the kind compliment on the site. As always... Enjoy the Music

No one suggesting Hodinkee's $6'000 low quality copy of a $300 LeCoultre travel alarm?
Still a must have.

i suggest to Ho' to give them away in a contest. That's about the only way they have 'value' imho.

I use some "less is more" / "form follows function" Braun AB 313 travel clocks on my desk and night stand (if any). Low-end but I love the Braun design from the 1980s and 1990s.

While I appreciate the Atmos clocks their design is way over the top for simple man in me. The inconsistency starts with the MB&F rocket clock which I do like. I can't see myself ponying up for that one either though.

I was scrolling down this thread looking for this masterpiece.

It is the horological embodiment of the year 2020.

I’ve been looking all over for a good quality desk clock
It’s tough to strike the right balance
I think that Panerai may be the one
Nice work guys !

Almost got this one. But I don't like the 3rd hand which is for the alarm function.

I wanted to like the FP journe one but it felt a bit cheap to me. Heavy but setting the hands felt wobbly. Got this guy instead. My 4 year old said it’s spectacular.
