Is there an "Optimal" wrist size...???

When Rolex (Or any other watch company for that matter) designs a watch, I wonder if they have an optimal wrist size in mind...???

I guess somewhere from 36 to about 39 or 40 mm. For women’s watches maybe the lower limit is 32-ish. In regard to sales, the datejust 36 mm is still king as far as I know.

It depends what you define as “optimal”. For example I would not care if the Deepsea would extend beyond my wrist. If I like the watch it is ok.

I think a 7" wrist is pretty much the average wrist size. Having said that, I think 40 mm watches look good on just about any wrist, and that's been the winning formula for a Rolex for many years.

I've got a 6.5" wrist and it sucks because my Rolex is loose on me unless I want to remove a 3rd link

I always thought that my 6.5" wrist was optimal until the watch world began going insane with grotesque gigantism. My personal limit is 40mm, though 36-38mm has more classic proportions and looks better to my eye. That has prevented me from buying at least a few pieces, but so be it.

I think they have in my mind that tastes differ, so, best to cast a wide net.

In my opinion, the optimal wrist size is the one that doesn’t require adding or removing any links from the bracelets.

PITA with my 8.25" inch wrist I always need to find an extra link or even 2 sometimes. I think a 7" wrist is probably good size to have.

I have the same size wrist. It can be a pain. I find I take out the third link. But I prefer that to any movement. Only other option is the sub with perfect sizing bracelet. Excuse me as I forgot the exact name of it. I had sold my no date sub and am now back in the market. Want to go one watch style and I’m torn between the exp 1 and sub

I don’t think anyone designs for an “optimal” wrist size. More like they design for the average wrist size.

I used to be worried that my grail watch, a 40mm GMT Master BLRO, was too small for my 7 3/4” wrist. Nope!

I have 8 inch wrist and my DJ41 was perfect without any link changes. My watches are mostly 39 or 40 which I prefer. Hard to change wrist size! Stuck with what we have for better or worse.

The new models with the easy link or glidelcks are bigger?

I’m sure many on this forum have had the same thoughts ! My guess is 7-7.25 inches probably is the most versatile for the Rolex catalog.
