Anybody here keep your Rolex on a watch winder?

I'm about to buy a watch winder for my Air-King for those rare times when I don't wear it.

Is it a good idea to keep a Rolex on a winder? Is it ok for the watch or can anything negative happen?

It's not a bad idea and can keep the gears in the movement lubricated if you don't wear it very often.

Nothing negative could happen but I would not waste the money and I own a nice orbita 3 watch winder. The air king has no date so it would take you just a few seconds to set the time and wind the watch and you are good to go. If you had a piece that offered date and moonphase functions where you needed to keep it constantly wound then that is a different story but for a simple time only watch (albeit a damn nice one) it is not needed IMO. Just my 2cents and congrats on the AK. Let's see a wrist shot

A quick search on the topic will reveal varying opinions on the use of winders. I think the majority find them unnecessary.

I have a Barrington single watch winder and my BLNR is on it when not being worn.
No issues, only added convenience.

I concur. I've answered this question more times than I care to count, so I won't add my comment here. Do the search.

I have Wolf winders and keep all my watches, including 2 Rolex, on them when not in wrist

Only use for watches which are difficult to set; for others best to let them rest when no in use to reduce wear. For me I keep both my 1803 and 16570 on winders. Nothing else.

I bought a Versa Watch Winder on Amazon.com for about $50. It's been completely silent and gets the job done. Perhaps not particularly stylish, but for the price it's tough to beat.

Nice watch! Personally, I don't find that winders are really necessary (at least in my situation). I don't own a watch with a lot of complications. Most of mine are just simple three hand watches, and they only take a minute to wind and set.

I keep mine on winders. Grab and go. I have enough to do in the morning trying to get work on time and would rather not have to set the date and time and winding a watch up. One of my watches is a non-quickset date +day and it's a pain when it goes dead.

this. I use winders as well, but not for time only watches.

As others have said....kind of a waste if it is on rare occasion and it is for an Air King as they are quick to wind and set if you have let it set long enough to stop. I kind of enjoy the winding and setting anyway.

I keep all mine on a winder and not to keep them wound but because I think the winder unit was a nicer way to keep/display my watches. And yes it has the added convenience of being able to wind them but I rarely do. It's more just a nice way to store them, for me anyway.

Just got one, I was afraid that it would be noisy, in fact it is very quiet, Wolf is a very good brand.
Some think they are useless, IMO they are quite handy to grab and go with a watch you have not used for a while. Of course it is even more interesting if you have a triple date or a perpetual calendar.

If you like all things mechanical then a winder is a must have. Keeps it wound and running and provides a dust free environment to keep your babies.

What make/model is that?

I have a Wolf 2-watch winder with purple interior/black leather exterior plus storage compartment. Love it!

Very overrated!

When I first got the bug, I got one thinking I was keeping my watches wound and in good condition.

Later, I found out that your rolex will lose and gain time depending on which way it is angled when stored, and if you don't use it for a while the differential ends up so you need to set it regardless.

Furthmore, I also found it causes additional wear to the mechanisms.

Not a fan.

Why do you need a winder for a watch that has no complication? It takes less than 6 seconds to set a watch that doesn't have a date.

I have a rotoultion winder, ( I don't think you can even google it any more) it's a 4 watch programmable winder. I keep mine on it ( not only rolexes). At this point I just say why not, if it ever quits, I doubt I'll buy another.

No winder needed

just set the watch when you wear it ant you are good to go. Winders are for complicated watches with setting pushers which can wear out if repeatedly set.

I thought about getting one especially because of the BLNR but decided against it because I realized I enjoyed setting the watch before I wear them.

goes either way, so the most you have to set is 15 days. I still wish it had a quick date function, but probably not possible.

Many of mine are kept on this; I have a second with four slots. Out of the twelve winding slots only to are kept running.
