Having fun on Maui....

Weather is beautiful.....except they removed all the bar stools so I’ve been sitting on the floor a lot. The wife has been a good sport about the social distancing....in fact I haven’t seen her since we got here.

You have to wear a mask in public except when eating so I just walk around with a box of animal crackers and continually pop one in my mouth.

My nanny is enjoying herself, as it’s her first trip to Hawai’i, although tanning has been a bit challenging....

Reporting here from the front lines, .......that’s all for now...

Thanks. Probably not doing Mama’s this time.

Maybe when we’re back in March. We generally do March and Sept and missed Sept, so we’re doing an abbreviated trip now.

We weren’t even sure we would get here with the airport testing etc but it worked out pretty smoothly. Without negative testing I’m not sure we would be allowed on the plane, we would not be allowed on the Marriott premises or be allowed to rent a car.

They are trying to balance the tourism/economy with the desire to keep infections very low. So it’s a lot different here than normal but worth it if you love Hawai’i and want to help them solve both issues.

Thanks Doc.

Practical medical advice is always appreciated.

I’ll try the pillow in the trunks to aid against the cold floor, but I’m not sure what to do about the cold stares. Sitting on the floor directly against the bar usually means I get my drinks first and some people are not giving me looks that say aloha at all.

A. Why didn’t you take me with you

B. By any chance is your Nanny attracted to short-fat, old and ugly men with no money or personality?

I tried and tried and couldn’t find you. We even wait at the airport. Nothing.

And our nanny is quite flexible. She not really a nanny because I don’t have kids, but I got tired of calling her my niece. And in case I do have kids I’ll be all set.

I’m not on Maui but I appreciate you and other visitors supporting our economy. Lots of hate towards visitors from a few ignorant locals but our infections are not linked to tourists. Our entire economy is dependent on tourism and military.

If you get a negative test by approved sites 72 hours before arrival you are ok. I believe residents can get on the plane without a test though, which has proven to be a problem. I don’t think a tourist can stay at most places without a negative test. And you can’t rent a car.

This is just for Maui and Oahu. For Kauai and the Big Island I believe you have to quarantine for 14 days, so not a great proposition.
