1675 relumed?

Is any of you experts able to tell what was done to the lumes and hands? Looks like someone painted them.

GMT 1675 S/N 299xxxx case back says II.71.

Any advice? Can this be reversed?

Or would you leave as is?

Many thanks in advance

Hi,
Tempted to say the markers were painted on. You need to check with a loupe and UV light to confirm. That red hand looks weird as well.

My eyes! This is a terrible lume job. Looks like they used White Out on the markers and hands. If you already own this watch you wouldn't be hurting its value by taking to a professional relumer. It would look a lot better and you would enjoy it more. If you're thinking of buying it from someone I say pass and pay more for something unmolested.

I fully agree. This looks terrible. I bought it > 10 years ago real cheap, recently I had the movement fully refurbished (was quite expensive). Now contemplating what to do with the dail, there are refurbished dails on Ebay, do you think a professional relume wouldbe better?

That's a low-quality relume and yes, it can be corrected if you're willing to invest in the watch.

An original dial is always better but depends on your budget. Plus matching the hands will be a pain etc.
There are some really good relume experts out there, that can match the hands too. If you're considering Ebay refurbished dials, you have not achieved much.... You might as well relume this

Honestly, If I was in your position I would just locate (or send the watch to RSC) a fresh looking service dial.

I recommend James Hyman in the UK — he is excellent, well known Omega Forums and by some here. His email address is

jameshyman10@outlook.com

He did the lume plots on my 1680 which had a similar story to your 1675 (i.e., had a terrible lume job, so fixing would improve looks/wearability and the value question on messing with the dial had already been settled with the poor lume job before I got the watch). See a few pics below.

Yes, a new service dial is the best choice in this situation.

Considering how long you've owned the watch, it's important to you. So you better invest in it and get a better lume work done. I'm sure a professional will give it a new and better look.

Thanks for all your helpful comments! Since the current dial seems to be a later service dial anyway, I think I will not do a new re-lume. Shopping for a period correct dial and hand seems the best option now. joli160: The website of twisst does not seem to work?
