"Like" button on posts...

I wonder if the forum designer has ever considered a "Like" button on the bottom of posts, so the viewers can show admiration for what has been said, especially if they don't feel a response is needed??

I'm on numerous other forums that have it, and it's a really nice feature to use. Plus it makes the poster feel like they're making a positive contribution to the forum.

Just a thought.

That said, kudos to the forum for being a great place to spend some time!!

Aren't "like" buttons designed for people with low self esteem to have a place to go for "encouragement" ??

I thought that's what we use our Rolexes for.

Just kidding.....

Let's keep that for the social media platforms where people are starving for attention.

Have you seen the "Rolex and attire" thread.

Agreed though, if you want "like " buttons stick to Facegram and Istabook.

Far more interesting for people to actually discuss things on a discussion board

I think 'like' buttons are silly and I hope we keep them far from here.

"Like" button on posts...

As a mod on a diff web site forum, I think the “like” is nice at first but then quickly grows into a popularity contest ultimately hinders quality content.

Many users will begin posting just for the quantity of “liked” posts. Some people just want attention.

I often want to "like" a post, but I know from other sites that like buttons can be abused and therefore, become meaningless.

IMHO the "like" option panders to the lazy modern disengaged approach to just about everything. If it is a common feature of 'social media' then that is reason enough to avoid it here.
I equate it with two millennials sitting opposite one another at the same table playing on their phones.

I was thinking the same thing, except that my preferred button, although also starting with a "D" would be a different word.
