5205g. Thoughts?

AD offered me the 5205g. Very torn on what to do.

Would love to hear feedback from owners.

Hi,
I have the 5205r black dial discontinued, and I am very proud.
Is a super elegant watch, of course depends of your life style but for me is a nice watch.
Case is stunning.
Have a nice day.

I purchased the 5205G last year as my first Patek and it still excites me every time I put it on! Such a great piece as a dress watch or with a T-shirt and Jeans. Beautiful dial that in the evening almost looks black.

Great watch. Would love to add to the collection at some point.

I would skip it and go for a much more interesting offering such as the 5235r or 5212a.

Biased, but I love my 5205r

I wanted a Patek AC in my collection with the newer 3 aperture way of displaying things. The g didn't quite grab me but the r + olive is lovely.

Other AC's by Patek are more quintessential to their characteristics and heritage, but that's one of the reasons I wanted this. Its different and I love the scalloped and skeletonized lugs.

I find it very elegant and I buying watches to get them noticed is never on my agenda but out of all the watches I wear, this r+olive has sparked the most conversations from both people who know watches and people that don't.

I believe this will be my first Patek from AD. I’m looking for something that can be more than an exclusive dress watch and right now this fits the bill. It just keeps growing on me, but will be following this thread for others perspective as well…

In OP's shoes I'd rather want opinions of people who decided against the watch and why... But maybe that's just me...

Great piece. Super stylish case and interesting layout. A Patek AC with a modern look. It is a bit dressy, so can be more challenging to dress down IMO.

It’s a nice watch no doubt. I was offered one from a dealer as a first time customer. Rose gold/ green dial. I was excited about it and bought it. I don’t have it anymore and don’t miss it.
I don’t have anything bad to say about it but it just didn’t get worn, at all.

Aesthetically my favorite Patek, but tastes vary.

I owned the 5205R black dial , it’s a nice watch . I hated the space that the am/pm indicator used , totally useless, some people defend that complication saying that is helpful when you set the watch, it’s bs.
Visibility is not the best specially in darker places . I think I would go for a 5905 instead.

I have the rose gold/olive version, I love it, but it was always one of my "grails". Its quite a pricey piece to be unsure of however.

I think I’d take a used 5960 over the 5205 or the 5905.

The newer 5905 rose gold with blue dial is sublime and probably one of my favorite pieces in the catalog. Just don't love it enough to drop $80K LOL!

probably the smart choice. the 5205g is going for about $40K-$44K in the secondary market so unless your AD is promising you a Nautilus if you get this piece, picking it up in the secondary market is a much better move.

I do love the blue dial and you can get one in the low $40's. Personally, i would spring for a 3940.
