SOLD: Vintage KING SEIKO HI-BEAT 5626-7000 (1970)
Vintage KING SEIKO 5626-7000 HI-BEAT
Condition This 1970 King Seiko 5626-7000 is in very nice shape, still showing the original sharp edges, corners and surfaces that are the hallmarks of Taro Tanaka’s trademark Grammar of Design. The dial and hands are clean and bright, as are the applied SEIKO and KS dial logos and indices. Comes on a new strap from Japan. The original gold caseback medallion is in excellent shape, with very little wear, and the Hardlex crystal and original KS-signed winding crown are also in great condition. The double-quickset Japanese/English day and date function perfectly, and the movement is keeping steady vintage time with strong amplitude and minimal beat error. See last pic for timegrapher sample. You can find out more about the outstanding 5626 movement here. Facts & Figures Production date: August 1970. Case width: 37mm. Height: 10mm. Lug width: 18mm. Fun Fact: Seiko introduced the double-quickset day/date Cal. 5626A movement to the Japanese market in 1968 – a full 20 years before Rolex’s first double-quickset, the Cal. 3155, was launched in 1988.
