Tudor 7928 question
Any one has any remarks/comments on the authenticity of this watch where all the lume is missing? I thought, if the lume is washed off a dial the markers should be rather white than black.

Washed dial and hands for sure. It looks okay to me otherwise but I'm NOT a vintage Tudor guy. Someone with a better grasp on Tudor will be along, give it some time

Seems tudorman and the other Tudor experts do not want to comment.

It sports a dial and hands that have had the lume removed. Not really much more to it.

The markers are black underneath because of the printing process. It shouldn't be white.
Serial number matches case back and range for a pcg Last edited by mtl514; 31 January 2013 at 11:16 AM.. Reason: More info |

Thanks. I just thought it should be white underneath as with the rolex sub and gmt models.

Don't really know about non gilt dials but with the gilt dials the plots were the same color as the dial before the lume was applied

Tudor
I'll chime in, though I am no expert, I have looked at many tudor 7928's before purchasing mine last year.
The Good: The Guilt dial Tudor7928's are higher valued, and the matching rivet bracelet make this a nice vintage set. The lug/case wear appear to be appropriate for the age. The movement and rotor appear to be matching metal and original (cal.390). The Bad: I would always question a faded bezel insert on a watch that has a washed dial. The washed dial in my opinion takes away from a vintage watch., There are plenty out there with original dials for a similar price. I just saw two in November at a watch show for the same price, these did not have a washed dial. Here is my 1966 newer Tudor, this is what I like to see on a dial:

sad story
Why someone would strip lume like that is my question! I believe this watch has been de-valued seriously & may require a new dial. I'd keep looking as there are other candidates that have not been screwed with! That dial can be restored, Michael Young (classicwatchparts) is someone who can do it...
