Icon20 Newbie Rolex Collector Advice Please :)

Hi guys and girls, I'm new to the forum and going to purchase a rolex watch however I never in my life purchase a valuable watch, i was wondering for you experienced people with Rolex knowledge to help me buy a collectible. What is a good collectible watch to buy at the moment? I am willing to spend around 5k to 8k maximum, I know that i will be keeping the watch for a long time possibly 5-10years in order for it to rise, Can you guys/girls give me advice on which Rolex Mens watch is currently gonna rise and to be rare? Thank you guys so much :)

From my experience the advice you’re going to get around here about investing in watches is don't!! I have to agree there are better was of making a return.... Collectibles are fickle at best……

Why are you running two threads with the same subject?

No matter where you post this thread you'll find that the answer is the same. No one knows. And your chances of any watch nearly doubling in value every year are enormously low.

Look at all of the watches in the classified area here on TRF. See if one strikes your fancy and go for it.

I second that. For 5K to 8K there is a pretty good range of watches you can purchase.

there is no such thing as a good investment when it comes to vintage watches...

buy one you love and wear the hell out of it, you'll get immediate return on your money !!

Noob here too, but I would agree that with any watch you buy, buy what you like because if the price tanks, you had better enjoying wearing it..

Hmm
I like the 16800 with matt dial. Box and papers. You are in that range.
But for me I am not worried about it going up a bunch in 5 or 10 years.
I think it will be much longer but i know it wont loss money if you are
not in a hurry to sell. I just like the watch for my daily needs with a cool
matt dial! so you have to love it even if others don't.
That is a safe watch investment!!
Remember Hollands tulips did not end well!
You gota love your flower when nobody else wants it any more.
