Ok, so I'm a little OCD......

I bought a 5513 not long ago and it's perfect for my weekend warrior. The problem is, it's actually so nice that my OCD has kicked in and the fact that the insert is a service insert with a new tritium PIP is annoying the ever living poop out of me because it doesn't match the patina of the plots and hands. In the next few days I'm going to post a WTB but I'm unsure of the following:

1) ease of a DIY switch, I obviously don't want to ruin the insert
2) how much is the going rate for a cream colored PIP

Thanks in advance.

Pete

Well P
I can't answer your questions but I can certainly relate to how you feel.
Not that that helps you any.

Best wishes on your search, share some pics when you get it ;)

the DIY is not to hard, i've changed some inserts at home and it is ok... some more difficult than others.
you can find enough info on the forum about changing these.
prices is another story... faded fat fonts with matching pearl are rather expensive. and is the fading real or not... see the thread by MY !

i agree that a nice sub needs a fat font insert !

I think I may have confused you guys a little. The insert, well, I can live with it becasue it's my weekend warrior. The PIP on the other hand is driving me insane.

I can change out the insert, I've done it a couple of times with my former Fat Lady. It's the PIP that concerns me because what I think I need to do is pop it out of the insert without damaging the insert and then pop in the new one. I believe if I read correctly somewhere not too long ago that the best bethod is to leave the insert in the bezel so that the reinforcement of the bezel against the insert protects it against possible damage.

But I dunno.

Pete the going rate for an authentic tritium pearl is around $150.00 to $125.00 dollars. Beware that you don't get one that is cracked because these are old brittle tiny pieces of plastic that can shatter. Also a bit of super glue may be necessary to hold it in place from the back side...no big deal. The most important thing I can tell you is don't attempt to do this pearl change over white carpet as these little things have the tendency to shoot across the room. I have lost a small fortune from pearl breakage and from ones that went "MIA" never to found again. ABC Watchwerks is very helpful. Talk to Dalton.
