Keep trying Von's Larry, they go on sale from time to time. I've been able to get mine for $66 a bottle when I do the 6 bottle bundle.

I just got in on a great little wine industry “friends and family sale” and bought 3 cases of Napa cabs to restock the cellar a bit:

Value: $228
2013 Beringer Knight’s Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Mid Range: $378
2014 Beringer Knight’s Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Higher End: Mixed case (4 bottles each) $1120
2013 BV Georges De Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
2013 Beringer Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
2013 Stag’s Leap Audentia Cabernet Sauvignon

Ooooh! That Audentia is sooooooooo good!!! It's going to be a hard choice to choose the better one from the Beringer PR 2013 and the Audentia, both are really good wines. We open two bottles of each about every three months. An alternative to the Audentia, my wife and I find the Stag's Leap The Leap is a lesser priced but almost equally as good alternative to the Audentia. 1/2 price of Audentia but 95% impressiveness in the glass. For us it's a good sleeper Cab.

Good to know and I’ll put that one on the list to try. We often have the same discussion - would we rather drink two of these versus one of those. Quality to price ratio is a definite consideration when we buy.

How much for the Dominus if you don't mind me asking?

It was $299 by itself but if I bought a total combination of any six bottles of wine, beer or liquor you get another 10% off of all your liquor purchase. It was a 2011 though, the critics weren't too kind to that year. Still tasted ok for me.

FWIW if you're willing to get a younger one, K&L wine merchants has the 2014 in stock for $229 but you're also looking at shipping for it. Still cheaper than Von's but it is a younger vintage.

I have a Total Wine close to me and it is selling for $229. I just wanted to see if the Vons deal was any cheaper buying 6 bottles than Total Wine's price. Every once in a while Ralphs will offer 40% off their price when you buy 12 bottles. The bad thing with K&L is you have shipping plus tax.

Today I decided I need to have a Bottle of Birthday Year Port for my 60th Birthday. I searched and found the perfect one. Placed an order for it today along with other bottles of various wine.
★ Another 6 years and I'll open her up!
Taylor Fladgate 1964 Port Very Old Single Harvest
95 pts. Wine Advocate
Limited Edition ~ Comes in a nice wood box

TASTING NOTES

During its five decades of ageing in oak casks, this wine has taken on an attractive pale mahogany colour with olive amber highlights. On the nose the wine displays fine oaky aromas and complex spicy, nutty, cigar box notes against a warm mellow background of butterscotch and molasses. The smooth velvety palate is lifted by a crisp acidity which gives the wine an attractive freshness in spite of its age. The finish is immensely long with rich, spicy, black pepper flavours lingering on the palate. Finely constituted and beautifully balanced, this rare Single Harvest Port would be an exceptional tribute to any 50th anniversary.

Single Harvest
1964 Single Harvest

Taylor Fladgate holds one of the most extensive reserves of very old cask aged Port of any producer. They include a collection of rare Single Harvest Ports. These are Ports from a single year which age to full maturity in seasoned oak casks and display the year of harvest on the label.

Taylor Fladgate has decided to make a limited release, each year, of a Single Harvest Port made 50 years previously.

The first in the series is a 1964 Single Harvest of exceptional character. The 1964 Single Harvest release will be followed a year later by the launch of an equally rare and exceptional 1965. Further annual releases of 50 year old Single Harvest Ports will follow.

Tonight a Little Malbec from South of the Border, Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico!

Monte Xanic winery is last on we went to on our tour of the valley. It was very nice, like a winery in Napa and the wines were Very Good!

Description:
Clean and bright with very deep color. Violet tones and cherry-red in color

Crisp and very intense on the nose. Notes of cherry, strawberry, blackberry, blueberry, violets, dairy, vanilla, licorice, pepper, clove, and pleasant wood, with a subtle toasted background. Complex and quality aromas.

Gentle mouth feel. A dry, fresh and inviting wine. Sweet tannins, giving it a round body. Mouth aroma reminiscent of fresh red fruit, black plum, violets, rockrose, cardamom, dill, pepper, coffee beans, cacao, smoky notes, and oak. Very well balanced with a long and persistent finish.

Pairings:
Lean meats, blue fin tuna, poultry, steak tartare, beef carpaccio and spicy food, among others.

Had this last night, been a few weeks since I've opened a bottle. Very young but with a few hours in the decanter it was just as good as I remembered the 2013 one to be. Comparable to a Beringer Private Reserve with a considerably smoother finish.

Hey Guys...Glad to see fellow wine lovers here

My wife and I particularly enjoy Pinot Noirs. Have begun exploring Noirs from Oregon and love Ken Wright Cellars!

A GREAT Day in the Markets Requires a Great Bottle of Wine!

HAPPY MONDAY!

Tasting Notes
The 2011 Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon offers aromas of tobacco leaf, dark cherry, and a whisper of floral perfume. A silky entry leads to a juicy midpalate of red fruit and earth. Fine tannins carry a light briar note, lingering on an elegant finish.

Vineyard Notes
The 100-acre Martin Stelling Vineyard, located behind the winery in Oakville, is the cornerstone of Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon. Planted on some of the most beautiful, gravelly loam soil in the Napa Valley, the vineyard uniformly produces wines with supple tannins, bright, forward fruit, and beautiful tannin structure.

Lovely Wine and Highly Recommended.

Aaghh, one day......

Someone close to me was selling their 2015 futures for $3500, sounded kind of high for just a 3 pack of 750ml.

Interesting - haven’t seen any speculation yet on secondary prices - so not real sure what to expect. I do know that the 15 vintage overall is getting some spectacular accolades — and with the lower overall yields I suspect there will be some pretty good premiums out there.

The few I have tried already are wonderful — lots of longevity and ‘cellarability’ yet the ones I have tried are quite drinkable now. What more could you ask for!!!!!

Yes I agree, I laughed when I heard that. Needless to say they're still trying to sell the bottles now I believe.

I know a guy that'd buy a bottle off of you if you ever sold one just don't tell my wife.

The delivery guy was early today! Normally they show up around 3:30 PM, 10 AM instead this morning. We'll probably have the 2009 for dinner, saving the 06's for our anniversary dinner. The 06 is underrated IMO.
