Insane skill

We've all seen basejumpers and wingsuit videos, this guy dumps the wings and pushes the limit of 'tracking'.
Simply insane.

I'll be skydiving for a few years before attempting base jumping, I know they teach skydivers the basics of basejumping in Kjerag Norway, would be an amazing spot to jump from. We'll see

At least you’re not having nightmares of the bounce at the bottom.

Sure, as long as you avoid a cliff strike.

Huge stones on that guy.

McConkey is a worthwhile documentary on base jumping for those who are inclined.

Imagine the balls on this guy. Wingsuits? Those are for chumps!

We have seen amazing development in recent years, for mine the two that provide the most WOW:

1) The guy a few years black who flew from Britain to France without a plane! I.e. dropped out high enough in his wingsuit he flew across the English Channel.
2) The two guys last year who took off from land and caught up to a plane and landed INTO IT....

I think Red Bull sponsored both these events. Given the most famous at the time base jumper died on a building a couple of miles from where I live always stays back of my mind when I see that building.

Wow- very cool and thanks for sharing. I done more than few parachute jumps but never crossed over to the flying suits. The video/music was very well done.

Next week we will likely see a thread in the Rolex Discussion...Is it safe to base jump and track in my flying squirrel suit wearing my SubC or should I use my GMT???

as depicted in the youtube video, the tracking dive was done in a two piece suit.. and was pretty impressive.

The picture above in the orange suit is whats known as a "onesie" and is actually the pheonix fly "onesie" suit being flown by the manufacturers owner Robi Pecnik.

onesies outperform two piece (pants separate from top) suits by a fair margin so the video is a bit outdated.

I dont wear any suits, jumping "slick" in street clothes and MiGHT have made it up to the first crevice in the video which is where things got really interesting.

There are tools that document your glide ratio in the air and you can jump more fogiving landscapes along side wingsuits to gauge the probability of making such jumps but yeah, its still impressive.

oh and norway is not a great beginner spot for base jumping.. its more common to start from tall bridges to compensate for weak packing skills early in ones base career.. if you have a bad opening that spins you 180 degrees after opening, you wont be flying at 15mph into the face of a cliff that way.

Neither. The appropriate Rolex is an Explorer ll for when they ultimately wind up underground in the little crater they dug themselves using their own body. I believe "Spelunk!" is even the sound a proximity flier makes while doing so.

Before they take their inevitable Dirt Naps, however, while they're alive proximity fliers do provide some amazing videos. Thanks GoPro, YouTube, and death-wish adrenaline junkies everywhere...I am indeed entertained.

They don’t bury like your jet when they crater in. They bounce. Any watch that can withstand the sudden deceleration will be safe to fly.

They don't bury and only bounce? Well, that seems rather anti-climatic after such a high-speed rush. Well then, I'd suggest adding canisters of napalm and willy pete to the equipment for a much-increased dramatic effect and to mark the spot where Odds and the failure of aerodynamic calculations finally caught up with them. What's the point of a high-speed impact if it doesn't involve, if not an actual crater, at least a colossal explosion?

Imagine Vanishing Point or Dirty Mary Crazy Larry if, after all the speed, near misses, and close calls, the cars in the end just banged into guardrails and occupants died of whiplash instead of gloriously blown to smithereens hitting bulldozers or being T-boned by a train. No crater, no explosion = A total let-down. An impact that isn't impactful is no impact at all.

Now I'm wondering when these bouncers fall in the woods, do they make any sound at all?

Yes i have been basejumping since 2006 primarily in the Swiss mountains but there is an American festival called bridgeday that got me started and i enjoy attending annually also.

Just to clarify for some mis concieved terminology, tracking is the act of moving forward in a skydive or basejump without the assistance of a wing suit.
When a wingsuit is donned its just called wingsuiting.

And its definately safe to basejump with a gmt.. For me at least :) although a nato strap is preferred.

I posted a video in the afterdark forum once the events following a few beautiful swiss valley, high altitude cliff side wrist shot.. My membership dues have lapsed since then so i dont have access but if anyone curious is a pledged member that link should still be available in the subforum by searching my name a few years back.
