I'll answer anyway.

I'm pretty sure that rule doesn't apply anymore as I've seen newbies with just 1 or 2 posts in the for sale section.

Not sure I get it. I don't believe you need to be a pledge member to post in the "WTB" area, and you can't post in someone else's for sale thread whether you're a pledge member or not.
